Will consider PhD's with image processing expertise at the university level without specific corporate work experience.

The Image Processing Expert will be responsible for supporting and developing image processing solutions to improve Company's recognition rates for cash and checks and give a competitive advantage.

Mandatory Qualifications:
-Master's degree or higher from a top level school.

Image processing and related coding skills:
-Image transforms (Fourier, Wavelet, etc): These convert an image into reversible frequency coefficients in the frequency domain. This can be used as a frequency analysis of an image.
-Image geometry interpolation (Bilinear, Affine rotation, etc): These rotate and rescale an image into a desirable shape of image with minimum loss of pixel information. This can be used to de-skew the check image.
-Binarization: This technique converts an 8bit grayscale or 24bit color image into the bitonal image which can be useful for the OCR.
-Image IO: Read and write various type of images such as BMP, JPEG and TIFF.
-Area of interest or Region of interest identification and edge detection

Statistical pattern recognition and related coding skills
-Learning methods (Linear discriminant Analysis, Neural Networks, and Nearest Neighbor method and etc.): These techniques are most typical approaches that classify unknown samples into their pre-defined (labeled) classes. This can be used to classify banknote images into corresponding denominations.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
-PhD highly preferred.
-C++ programming abilities a big plus.
-Optical Character recognition techniques (OCR) - Character segmentation (Vertical/Horizontal projection profile method, etc.); Binarization (Dynamic contrast ratio method, etc.); Recognition per segmented chars. (Neural networks, zoning template matching, etc.).
-Experience with handwriting recognition or currency recognition a plus.
