Description
Thomson Reuters' Data Center Operations (DCO) is seeking a Lead Oracle DBA to join a dynamic fast paced team. We need an energetic individual who wants to be on a team that is at the cutting edge of datacenter technologies supporting a growing online business. We employ a wide range of technologies from virtual to blade to large SMP Servers with a wide range of operating systems including SuSE Linux, Solaris and AIX, Windows, multiple clustering technologies, and SAN, NAS, and solid state/flash storage. Key to this position is taking the technical requirements from architecture then leading the certification effort for roll out in to global datacenters. This includes managing multiple projects, coordinating virtual engineers who will report to this position and ensuring that we are constantly improving out processes. Day to day improvements will be required for testing, benchmarking, documentation and training processes and procedures. Professional communication and leading by example to help grow the team is integral to this position.
Major Areas of Accountability
Technology
- Help define technical strategies for the Operational Readiness team, including adoption of new tools and procedures
- Lead major technical initiatives and virtual engineers across the organization
- In depth technical experience of multiple platforms
- Serve as an escalation point for operational technical issues at the team level.
- Top level technical resource for solutions design process
- Participate in continuous operational workflow improvement
- Help define scope of Unix/Linux security hardening
- Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
- Ability to set scope and deliver quality results
- Strong automation and benchmarking skills Leadership and Communication
- Provide positive coaching and guidance to virtual team members.
- Strong documentation and presentation skills for training a multifaceted organization in new technologies
- Lead or contribute to a variety of virtual teams with members of multiple groups to proactively address issues.
- Act as a lead for initiatives providing project and task direction to achieve goals.
- Maintain status on all assigned work.
- Evaluate and recommend process improvements.
- Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned work for later reference.

Qualifications
Education
- BA, BS or AA or Equivalent work experience plus 5 to 10 years experience in related work
Previous Experience
- Required 2+ years of Oracle Database experience supporting sophisticated mission critical environments
- 2+ years technical project management experience, including demonstrated project guidance with delegation experience
