Description
Responsibilities include:

Manage a 7 person procurement team for New Business Development and contract manufacturing.

Lead, coach and develop New Business Development/Contract manufacturing Team in North America. Empower and motivate entrepreneurial professionals.

Support implementation of BASF Group's Globe purchasing strategy in North America

Identify value-adding opportunities to deliver competitive advantages through world class procurement along the value chain.

Support key contract negotiations to ensure most competitive security of supply of toll manufacturing.

Initiate and support Innovation projects of the BUs and category buyers to create value.

Guide the process of CM1 risk mitigation/single source reduction for all raw material categories in NA.

Develop and materialize quantifiable value chain projects with the business units, category and account managers.

Ensure close relationships with internal business units to explore creative and strategic supply solutions for new and existing raw materials streams.

Engage suppliers in beneficial supplier/BU relationships.

Establish close relationship to Global Procurement organization for initiatives in the area of new business development, risk mitigation, sustainability, innovation and product development.

Provide leadership and coordination for all Procurement activities

Exhibit active and public leadership in driving a zero-tolerance safety culture in Procurement.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
- Masters degree in Chemistry required
- PhD Degree in Chemistry is strongly preferred
- 8+ years of experience in any combination of the following disciplines: R&D or New Business Development, Product Management, Strategy or Marketing
- Experience in a global chemical company is ideal
- Creative and out-of-the-box thinking as well as entrepreneurial, risk-taking attitude to navigate in a highly dynamic and constantly changing market environment
- Advanced knowledge in sourcing strategies and ability to effectively communicate and negotiate
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel,Powerpoint, Access) required
- Ability to utilize excellent interpersonal, verbal, presentation, and writing skills to successfully interact with, and influence the organization, peers and senior management.
- Ability to communicate globally and to adapt to local special needs with respect to inter cultural outstanding.
- Effectively interacts with employees at all levels, exhibits excellent coaching and leadership capabilities for potential significant career growth
- Strong business orientation evidencing the ability to approach business issues from multiple functional/operational perspectives
