JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Network Engineer requires both broad and deep technology knowledge in network operations and maintenance. The position will provide overall Tier III enterprise level LAN and WAN IP-based infrastructure systems planning, design, and engineering.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Network Engineer will support a large distributed enterprise network. Including:
- Provide assistance in all aspects of maintaining, configuring and sustaining a large distributed CISCO IP network from network design through implementation and the troubleshooting and upgrade of existing networks.
- Maintain a broad knowledge of network communications and local area network/wide area network (LAN/WAN) operations, and has a demonstrated ability to independently work on complex assignments.
- Provide overall enterprise level LAN and WAN IP-based infrastructure systems planning, design, and engineering.
- Manage infrastructures for operational networks of multiple security classification levels.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for all matters related to network infrastructure efforts.
- Perform analyses on networks to discover and document the baseline.
- Support planning and execution of network installations and hardware upgrades.
- Conduct LAN (Ethernet, HSRP, EIGRP, BGP) and WAN (ISDN, ATM, SONET) preventive and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting/problem resolution.
- Use network analysis tools (CISCO Works, CISCO Network Analysis Modules, etc).
- Perform enterprise traffic analysis (eg, link utilization, flows, latency, and other relevant metrics) to detect/determine network inefficiencies and make recommendations to relieve network congestion/optimize the networks.
- Provide advanced technical analyses of network infrastructure challenges and problems; develop/identify technical solutions responsive to customer needs.
- Engineer, install, test, and maintain wiring (copper and fiber) infrastructures.
- Support an improved infrastructure information security vulnerability posture through the performance of vulnerability assessments and analyses.
- Manage the Network life cycle Cradle to grave (ex-network requirements, design, vendor (network, phone, video, etc.) and equipment provisioning, vendor execution/tracking, and network, phone, video, implementation and decommissioning).

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
Active DoD Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility required, TS/SCI strongly desired.
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires periodic international travel. A current U.S. passport is required.
- Proficiency with Cisco routing and switching protocols, including Spanning Tree, HSRP/VRRP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and Interior Gateway Protocols.
- Experience with datacenter network design, including the Nexus 7kk[1]kk product line, Virtual Port-Channel, Virtual Environment.
- Desired experience with the following technologies:
- Cisco ASA firewalls
- VoIP (Design and troubleshooting)
- Cisco Virtual Switching System
- IPSEC (Design and troubleshooting)
- HAIPE (implementation and design)
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Required:
- CompTIA Security+
- CCNA
- Preferred:
- CCNP
- ITIL
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, computer science, or related field + 6 years of experience preferred. Additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
