Software Safety Analyst (Job Number:332913)
Description:
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently, and can take the lead on short-term tasks as needed, but who also functions well in a team environment.
This position supports all SSO activities, including:
- Commercial Crew Program (CCP). eg proposed alternate standards assessment against NASA standards, hazard report assessment, V&V plan assessment, certification plan assessment, etc.
- Dryden software assurance (aeronautics, as opposed to space flight)
- Software assurance for other NASA Centers (eg, test stands at Stennis, flight projects at Wallops)
- As stated, this position is the SSO, but will support the IV&V Office (IVVO, a peer organization) support requests (typically hazards analysis-related)
- NASA HQ Office of SMA (OSMA) support (minimal, but may include support for guidebook development)
Position will:
- Assess safety impacts of software changes
- Assess coverage of software safety testing
Qualifications
:
Required Skills
- Systems and software engineering.
- Software safety analysis
- Preliminary Hazards Analysis (PHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure, Modes, and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Software development and test
Required Experience
- BSEE and 14+ years of experience
- Software safety analysis experience
- Preliminary Hazards Analysis (PHA) development or analysis
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) development or analysis
- Failure, Modes, and Effects Analysis (FMEA) development or anlaysis.
- Software development and testing experience
- Low-level programming (O/S level)
- General software assurance experience (eg, software V&V, software quality)
