Position Summary:

Under close supervision, performs maintenance on existing software products. Assists in coding, testing, and debugging new software or making enhancements to existing software. Suggests solutions for problems or software enhancements. May assist in the development of user manuals and work with technical staff to learn and understand problems with software. Attends on-going training sessions to achieve a higher level of technical skill.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists in writing code to create single-threaded or user interface event driven applications, either stand-alone or those which access Servers or services. Helps to develop code necessary to complete the assigned project(s) in the specified time
frame according to departmental standards and guidelines. Assists in writing, modifying, and debugging software for client applications. Writes programs according to specifications from higher-level personnel. Works with technical staff to understand and makes suggestions to resolve software problems. May help to develop the critical components of the solution, including but not limited to, security, rules infrastructure, custom adapter implementation, and application interfaces. Uses source debuggers and visual development environments. Profiles, analyzes and optimizes the software he/she is responsible for implementing with assistance from higher-level personnel. Employs best practices for design, development, unit testing and test plan development. May be involved in the development of software user manuals and demonstrate software. Seeks to improve personal job related knowledge and departmental process by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities, and reading professional publications.

Required Qualifications:

Requires 0-2 years of experience in the development, engineering, interfacing, integration of hardware and software systems to include an understanding of requirements elicitation, analysis, and functional allocation, concepts of operation, interface standards, and system architectures.

Basic understanding of Object Oriented and Structured development methodologies and languages.

Developing documentation required to support a program's technical issues and training situations. Requires a TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Requires 0-2 years of experience in the development, engineering, interfacing, integration of hardware and software systems to include an understanding of requirements elicitation, analysis, and functional allocation, concepts of operation, interface standards, and system architectures.
Basic understanding of Object Oriented and Structured development methodologies and languages.
Developing documentation required to support a program's technical issues and training situations. Requires a TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.

Typically requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and zero to two years of related work experience.
Physical Demands:
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
