Role Summary/Purpose:

In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

In this role, you will:
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Execute, with guidance from lead engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Participate on team working on integration and verification of FMS software in accordance with DO-178B/C guidelines and internal policies and procedures
  • Create new and maintain existing test procedures, test data, and traceability Matrix to provide test coverage for requirements based testing
  • Perform formal software acceptance testing and generate an associated test report
  • Perform product requirements validation
  • Build leadership skills
  • Help Manage navigation (position, position uncertainty, radio nav position, navaids selection, and tuning), Flight Planning (routing plan and vertical flight plan), Optimization and Prediction functions (altitude, speed, time, fuel, distance), Guidance computation (lateral, vertical and thrust guidance), Navigation Data Base Management, Data Link (Airline Operational Communication (AOC) and Air Traffic Control (ATC), Display (textual and graphical displays)

Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Aeronautics/Aviation, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

Desired Characteristics:

  • Interest in Aviation
  • Familiarity with DO-178B/C Certification Guidelines
  • Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems
  • Experience with implementation and testing of IO using ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553B and Ethernet
  • Aviation and Flight Management System familiarity
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of working within a diverse team across different time zones
  • Effective time management and organizational skills; able to balance multiple priorities
  • General MS Windows XP, MS Office 2003 Professional, DOORS and Dimensions experience
  • Experience programming in ADA, Visual Basic, C#, C++, C or Java
  • Experience with Structured and Object-Oriented Design and Programming
