Objective:
Drive cultural change in Travelers service assurance practice through the delivery and socialization of high-impacting product capabilities.

Description:
The Manager of Engineering for Application Performance Management plays a key position on the Travelers Service Assurance team focusing on leading the delivery of application performance management capabilities that improve Travelers IT Operations.

Primary Duties:
Collaborate with customers to further leverage existing out-of-the box product capabilities as well as identify emerging trends for new capabilities. Influence customers to leverage and follow already defined vendor and/or industry best-practices.
The APM Manager will be responsible for leveraging APM products to design and develop technology solutions to meet our customer-s needs. In addition, the APM Manager will be responsible for keeping up with industry trends, providing consulting to customers, Product training for the customers and work with vendors to drive product improvements. The APM Manger will need the ability to multitask in an environment of changing priorities and may direct project staff in the development and implementation of technology solutions in support of business requirements.
Partner with enterprise architecture to evaluate, choose and implement solutions that align with Travelers strategic business and technology road-maps.
Lead a team of engineers to deliver service assurance capability solutions on-time, within budget and with quality. Proactively and aggressively resolve issues and escalate where appropriate.
Collaborate with vendors to leverage the out-of-the-box, best-practice product capabilities. Influence vendors to implement enhancements that further improve these capabilities for Travelers.
Maintain product currency levels and support customer product upgrade initiatives.
Education and Work Experience
Proven leadership skills with at least 2 years of management experience. Can set and communicate a vision. Experience directing off shore resources.
Hands on experience leading the implementation of commercial off the shelf products and has strong software implementation fundamentals.
Values and takes constructive feedback. Is an effective coach focused on improving the core fundamentals of the team.
Strong working knowledge of IT infrastructure and application architectures, including mainframe. Understands relationships/connectivity points of componentry, etc.
Excellent organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple requests from customers across the organization.
Effective written, oral and visual communication skills. This individual will be interacting at several levels of the organization.
Savvy with MS Office, Visio, and SharePoint. Strong proficiency in the use of MS Excel ie comfortable with formulas, pivot tables.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in the configuration and management of Application Performance Management products.
ITIL v3 trained with a focus on event and impact management
Hands on experience implementing or leading the implementation of monitoring, alerting, event and impact management products for an enterprise, infrastructure or applications
Experience with monitoring, alerting, event and impact management products from major vendors such as BMC, HP, Compuware, CA, etc.
