The Business Insurance Division at The Travelers is starting a number of exciting major initiatives. Significant new and or replacement applications are being planned for Underwriting, Policy Administration, Agency Administration, and Work Management using the latest e-Commerce technologies.

The Business Insurance Division is looking for an Information Architect/Data Modeler within the Shared Business Intelligence Systems team. The primary functions of the Shared Business Intelligence Systems team are (1) to perform business analysis, data modeling, data management, & develop and maintain a shared common business object model for new SOA (service oriented architecture) based Business Insurance system's applications and (2) to perform business analysis, data modeling, data management, & develop and maintain a shared dimensional model for new Business Intelligence based Business Insurance system's warehouse applications . This is an excellent opportunity for the right person looking to join a highly skilled team, using state of the art technology, designing state of the art applications for mission critical business processes.

Major Roles and Responsibilities:
. Design databases and create a division wide common business object model thru facilitated design sessions with project leads, technical leads, business analysts, and other data architects.
. Working with various customers and prospects, understand and translate business use cases and/or requirements into data models, Analytics reports and scenario models.
. Enable customers with analyzing and mapping customer requirements to analytical business models, reports and decision management flows, prototype and proof-of-concept.
. Communicate the logical data base design and first cut physical model to the Data Base Administrator for physical data base design and implementation.
. Serve as an expert resource on matters of data architecture to business and IT staff in all phases of data warehouse and data mart development, implementation and support.
. Provide guidance to development application areas by applying knowledge of data warehouse design, extract-transform-load (ETL) design and development.
. Responsible for the development of logical data base designs across multiple computing environments (eg, host based, client server, distributed systems).
. Consult with data base administration and client areas in the transformation of business requirements into relational data base definitions and for resolving questions during the translation to a physical data base design.
. Ensure that data dictionaries are maintained across multiple systems.
. Provide data model version control, data model reconciliation, and data model management for our lines of business, as well as provide product support for the suite of CA modeling tools.
. Participate in data definition and data management reviews

Critical Skills Required:
. Must have experience in data modeling and/or object modeling
. Extensive hands-on technical experience using data warehouse, Business Intelligence and Analytics products.
. Must have excellent communication and facilitation skills with business and IT partners
. Must have experience in Property Casualty insurance, especially Commercial Lines
. Must have working knowledge of modeling tools (eg, CA Gen, ERwin Data Modeler, IBM Rational Suite)
. Must be team oriented and have excellent collaboration skills
. Data management experience a plus.
