The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a CPE Engineer for our Subscriber Equipment, Gateway Devices Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Essential Job Functions:



The CPE Engineer is responsible for the development and integration of pre-production engineering hardware or software with Time Warner Cable infrastructure including development of requirements and documentation of test cases.

The CPE Engineer is responsible for engineering new solutions for deployment to the field including refining Legacy products as well as developing new products.

The CPE Engineer will interact with Time Warner Cable engineering resources, cable modem vendors and set top vendors as well as external test contractors and labs. This role will assist in maintaining network connections between external and internal test labs.

The CPE Engineer shall have strong communication and leadership skills in order to effectively assist with the overall integration process. This role is responsible for identifying and tracking integration issues and working with vendors and TWC engineering to resolve the issues. This individual will maintain integration and test schedules and communicate status to TWC personnel.

The CPE Engineer may be called upon to recreate and troubleshoot field issues as needed.

The CPE Engineer develops, contributes to, reviews and provides feedback on requirements documents. This role will also assist with creation of Unit test plans and Vendor Test Plan supplements as needed based on the new CPE requirements.

The CPE Engineer works under limited direction in support of final goals.

Job Requirements:

The CPE Engineer is responsible for integration of the following products or technologies:

- DOCSIS cable modems (leased and retail devices)

- PacketCable 1.5 eMTAs

- PacketCable 2.0 eMTAs

- Wireless cable modems and Advanced Wireless Gateways

- Commercial Premise Routers

- Network extenders including Ethernet-Coax adapters, wireless extenders, MoCA-Wireless adapters, etc.

- Advanced devices including IP video set top boxes and hybrid data/video gateways

- Other devices as needed

The CPE Engineer should have a working knowledge of the following technologies and/or systems:

- DOCSIS (all versions)

- PacketCable (all versions)

- eRouter

- Ethernet

- MoCA

- 802.11 b/g/n/ac

- Layer 2/Layer 3 Networking

- Routing protocols (RIP)

- QOS, Tunnels

- IPv4 Addressing

- IPv6 Addressing

- DHCP

- TFTP

- SNMP

- TR-069

- DLNA

- General cable Back Office provisioning and billing systems

- Cable HFC plants

- CMTS

- Routers and Switches

The CPE Engineer will be acting as an individual contributor. As an individual contributor the CPE Engineer will use their excellent communication skills to collaborate with TWC engineers and management. It will be essential for the CPE Engineer to prioritize projects with minimal guidance and adjust schedules appropriately.

It is required that the CPE Engineer be able to learn and adapt to new technologies as their role will be working with advanced or evolving technologies. This individual must be able to interpret new requirements, communicate use cases, develop test strategies and communicate feedback from lab experiences to the architects. The CPE Engineer shall be a technical resource that can be called upon by the test contractors or engineers within or outside the Subscriber Equipment group.

Preferred Qualifications:


- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a four-year college or university.

- 5+ years experience in cable modem, eMTA and gateway technology.

- 5+ years experience in technical vendor management or project management.

- Documented experience with test methodology and automation.

- Documented experience with bug tracking databases.

- Experience with Legacy video products or IP video.

- Excellent written and oral communications skills.

- Proficiency with MS Office suite or equivalent.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.

Travel Requirements:

Travel up to 10 %
