POSITION SUMMARY:
Do you care about squeezing the last millisecond of performance out of Cassandra, how best configure the disk vs. memory requirements of MongoDB, and when to use document over column store over relational DBs? Do you enjoy explaining to strangers on a train the pros and cons of both normalized and denormalized table structures? If the answer to these questions is yes then you may have found your dream job!
We are looking for energetic and talented software developers to build large scale, distributed, fault tolerant systems and software. Experience in any of eCommerce, logistics and supply chain systems, SOA, Big Data/Hadoop, MongoDB, Cassandra, open source development and community participation would be beneficial.
Extremely deep Java knowledge is required along with a working knowledge of at least one additional programming language. Exposure to designing and development of best-in-class services using big data frameworks systems will be expected. The ideal candidate embraces a fast-moving environment and demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit to application development. As a new member of a new team, you will be expected to help with hiring and mentoring other engineers (including your own referrals).
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BS Degree
The ideal candidate must have minimum 7 years' software development experience. Must have hands on experience using Java/J2EE
The ideal candidate must have minimum 2 years' Big Data design and development experience.
The ideal candidate must have knowledge of OO design, design patterns, and refactoring
The ideal candidate must have experience with one of the Databases - MySQL, NoSQL (as well, Memcached, Redis or similar valued)
Must have experience with one of the following: Big Data - MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop, HBase, Hive, Pig, R, Octave all valued
Must have experience with API and SOA development - REST, SOAP, JMS, JAX-RS
Must be a self-starter with a passion for new technologies
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Master s' Degree
Previous experience in a technical leadership role
Previous experience as a scrum master
Active participation the open source communities
