Summary:
This position is for a day-to-day web production support role. This role is part of a team that supports a 24 x 7 operational monitoring and production support of web application environments. Part of this role requires carrying the On-Call pager on a rotation basis and responding to matters immediately 24 hours a day. Interface with clients and vendors to resolve issues and determine root cause analysis is required.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide production support and monitoring of systems supporting business clients, occasionally after normal work hours
- Maintain and support application programs working within a team-oriented environment using various toolsets.
- Willingness to work after hours as necessary, especially during critical issue resolution and milestone time periods.
- Ensure the successful transition from development to production including operations procedures and tools such as process control points, reports, and automated monitoring.
- Regularly report status and raise issues/risks as appropriate. Anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks while eliminating roadblocks within control.
- Collaborate with team members and operational groups to identify and prioritize/reprioritize work when necessary.
- Interact with external entities: vendors, service providers and product vendors.
- Helps identify and recommend options, risks and alternatives to maintain and deliver a robust and stable web infrastructure.
- Requires skill and proficiency in many technical functions and ability to integrate across disciplines.
- Support PCI, PII and SOX controls, testing and audits
- Devises or modifies procedures to solve problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, form of desired results, and integration of components.
Qualifications:
Role Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Support 24 x 7 operational monitoring and production support of the web application environments. Participating in an on-call support rotation is required.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills. Detail oriented, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well under pressure, remaining focused and calm in the face of distractions, changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility, dedication, and team-spirit is a must
- Strong Application Server experience (Tomcat and WebSphere) a MUST;
- Solid Experience in Web Server (iPlanet, IBM HTTP server)
- Proven understanding of Unix (preferably Solaris and AIX) operating systems
- Solid experience in Java/J2EE a MUST
- Strong Web Content Management (WCM) experience - including setup and configuration as well as troubleshooting of application.
- iPlanet Directory Server/LDAP a plus
- Proven experience with installing and configuring infrastructure components and interfaces along with working with web developers and application owners to insure the web infrastructure will meet the application requirements.
- Requires working on multiple projects, systems, issues and as needed with local and off-shore developers.
- Oracle PL/SQL a plus
- UNIX Perl Scripting a plus
- Ability to work independently for monitoring, installation, configuration, testing, and deployment.
- Web infrastructure implementation experience for custom application development environment. Technologies include:
- Web Application & Portal: Sun Web Servers, Apache Tomcat, WebSphere & MS IIS
- Directory (LDAP - configuration and clean-up): Sun Directory Server, Active Directory
- OS: Unix(AIX, Solaris), Linux(RedHat), Windows NT/2000
- Databases: Oracle 10/11G, JDBC/ODBC, PL/SQL and MS SQL Server
- Security: Computer Associates Netegrity Identity Manager & Siteminder configurations & PKI (SSL)
- Proxy and Cache Servers: Apache and MS Proxy Server
- Networks and Protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SFTP and WAN/LAN
- XML/HTML/JavaScript/XSLT
- Monitoring: SiteScope, HP BAC, and Zabbix
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant business discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 to 7 years technical experience
Physical Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel when needed
- Duties are performed during standard business hours and overtime based on project requirements. In addition, on call rotation, and 24-hour on-call support will require nights and weekends.
- Valid drivers license and the ability to attend meetings and respond to application problems at various corporate sites when necessary
