JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Database Architect will support development using industry best practices to to incrementally develop, deliver, and field a modernized command and control application in support of Air Mobility Command (AMC). Expected start is in in October 2013.

The Database Architect will be involved in the software development activities across teams to ensure consistent application of best practices for data access, modeling, structure and normalization. The Database Architect will work with users, developers and the government to ensure functional and non-functional requirements are captured and are incorporated into system design and data model. The Database Architect will train developers, and be involved with SQL development (DDL & DML) across team activities. The Database Architect will use executed explain-plans or other techniques to optimize database performance to support delivered software.

The Database Architect will, with minimal guidance provides technical expertise, and performs in-depth and complex software systems programming and analysis. Supports the design of architectures, including the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements, as well as to provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. Ensures these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems and DOD architectures. Determines and identifies high-level functional and technical requirements on the basis of interactions with the user community and development team. Creates detailed design specifications for use by software development staff members. Interacts with project management to plan project schedules and technical direction. Develops software design documents and technology white papers responsible for developing high-level system design diagrams and for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation

Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. An additional 5 years may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. 8+ years experience in Software Design, Development and Test and Evaluation. At least 5 years direct experience in database administration and development.

Desired Experience:

- Advanced knowledge of data modeling and manipulation (eg ETL)

- Advanced practitioner using static, prepared SQL statements for data

access in an Oracle Environment

- Basic familiarity with C#

- Working knowledge of RIA techniques and technologies

- Basic familiarity with application design and data access requirements from

a developer's perspective

- Excellent oral skills in order to interact with users, team members, and

government personnel

Assess new methodologies to improve software usability, data quality and data

responsiveness

Security: Must have, or be able to obtain SECRET clearance
