Position Summary:

The Manager, Development Operations will be leading a team of release and software engineers responsible for the deployment, instrumentation and monitoring, automation, and reporting of Kelley Blue Book's kbb website. This individual must promote an open and collaborative culture between Engineering, QA, and Operations by leading meetings, gathering requirements, managing requests, removing bottlenecks, and delivering reports on the groups' effectiveness and key performance metrics. The Manager of Development Operations should have proven success leading build/release operations, ideally in an environment with a large-scale web application.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Drive the automation and software development of Operational tools that deploy, test and monitor Kbb in a continuous delivery release cycle.
  • Lead the Development Operations team in establishing processes that support Agile development and continuous, on-demand deployments.
  • Lead the effort to instrument the kbb web application and provide key metrics back into the Engineering and Operations groups. This includes but is not limited to application, database, server, error logging, and security data.
  • Lead and provide input to the team creating dashboards that aggregate various data sources to show the health of the web site and capacity information.
  • Review key metrics on a regular basis with the Development Operations team to ensure acceptable performance baseline and threshold after every software release. Identify potential problems and work with Engineering and Operations groups to resolve them.
  • Provide IT leadership and oversight supporting continuous process improvement that support the business units requirements. Promote a shared Development Operations vision to support business objectives.
  • Working collaboratively with the KBB Product Engineering teams and at the enterprise level define and establish Dev Ops foundations that support the business and can scale for future growth.

Qualifications

Essential skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • 5+ years of professional experience working as a technical manager, or manager of cross-functional teams, ideally in a large-scale web environment.
  • Understanding of the technologies that support a large-scale web site. This includes networking, database, Servers, and software development.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum development teams.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
