Position Summary: The Senior Analyst, Vehicle Valuation is responsible for determining the valuation of assigned used and new vehicles. In order to successfully complete these responsibilities, the Analyst will analyze transaction data, correlate the forecast model output with market trends and collaborate with the Predictive Analytics team and other Analysts as required. The Senior Analyst will cooperate as needed with other departments when input from the Valuation team is necessary to their processes. In addition, the Senior Analyst, Vehicle Valuation will report status updates and recommendations to Management via reports and presentations concerning valuations.

Position Responsibilities:

Report valuation trends to management via weekly and monthly reports and presentations.

Take the lead on ad hoc valuation analysis for internal and external purposes.
- Be point of contact for internal and external ad hoc analysis requests.
- Analyze used car transactions, historical data, and output from the forecast model to determine used car valuations.
- Assist with and perform extensive ad hoc analysis for all relevant departments and senior management.
- Determine regional variations in valuations through analysis of transaction data.
- Collaborate with Statisticians and Valuation Analysts to discern trends affecting segment of the industry.
- Assist and mentor Associate Analyst(s) and Analyst(s) to further develop their skills.
- Review drafts of projects created by Associate Analyst(s) and Analyst(s) and provide feedback prior to final draft being submitted.
- Set project and/or enhancement requirements as determined by the department and upper management.
- Assist in the explanation of variances between forecast model and actual.
- Provide industry insights to the Predictive Analytics team for purposes of formulating more applicable statistical model.
- Review statistical output models from Analytics department, ensuring integrity and validity down to the trim level.
- Maintain open dialogue with Sr. Statisticians on a weekly basis, providing detailed feedback from Valuation team.
- Refine the forecast model by understanding the output and independent variables.
- Perform analysis utilizing transactional data to determine new car valuations.
- Keep current on trends, market conditions, product development, and other information related to new and used vehicles.
- Attend industry events such as seminars and product meetings as required.
- Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Acute analytical abilities are essential for this position.
- Ability to set requirements of data sets for the EDW or external sources.
- Ability to normalize and integrate new data sets into existing analytical tools and reports.
- Ability to collaborate with a team of highly motivated analysts.
- Ability to report valuation data trends with management in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and formulate an analysis plan for ad hoc requests.
- Ability to recommend valuation improvements.
- Ability to draw conclusions and communicate via reports and comfortable with large data sets.
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and/or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
