Description

Itron is providing that opportunity by means of adding a few senior level Embedded Design/Development Engineering opportunities as work continues to grow in demand for the IP-enabled smart grid solutions group focused on using cellular networks that already exist acting as a means of securely delivering grid intelligence for a true end-to-end solution in a growing industry.
We are seeking experienced Embedded application developers who will bring their expertise having worked on the Linux or RTOS platform using C/C++. This is an opportunity to join a global workforce working on some of the more progressive technologies while focusing on a worthwhile project connecting the world while assisting in energy conservation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and debug firmware using C/C++ and Kernel level development in a Linux environment.
- Analyze technical requirements documents and propose implementation solutions
- Implement code to meet the requirements of industry standards and specifications
- Troubleshoot and resolve firmware defects in new and existing code
- Document design and implementation of new features
- Present and participate in peer reviews of design documents and new code development
- Present innovative ideas for product and process improvement
Experience:
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience with Linux application development and Scripting
- Five (5) or more years of related experience in Embedded software/firmware
- Solid experience in C and C++ language software development
- Excellent oral and written communications skills combined with the ability to effectively communicate technical issues
- Reasonable understanding of hardware interfaces and controls Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Linux distribution OpenEmbedded and TimeSys
- Experience in automated metering or the utility industry in general
- Experience with telecommunications protocols
- Experience with one or more of the following wireless technologies: LTE, EVDO/1xRTT/CDMA and/or HSPA/EDGE/GPRS
- Experience in developing low-cost high-volume high-reliability products
- Proficiency with Rational Tool Suite
- Proficiency with GitHub, Jenkins Integration Server, TFS, and GCC.
- Experience with working with off-shore teams
- Experience with the TI Cortex-A series processor
- Experience with Embedded security for M2M
- Experience in Linux virtualization
Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Travel: 10 - 30%
