Overview:

Responsible for the installation, modification, testing and repair of data communications network equipment. Provides connectivity and network support to all network, services, company, and customers. Performs analysis of software, hardware, and network systems for processors, multiplexes, LAN/WAN communications and various transmission systems. Proposes and implements hardware and software upgrades that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Sets up user accounts on company's Servers and runs necessary system backups. Serves as the technical liaison with customers. Maintains records on repairs, downtime, changes and updates.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Specialist Level works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgement is required in resolving problems and making recommendations. May determine methods and procedures on assignments and provide guidance to lower level personnel. Uses abilities as skilled specialist to provide complex preventative maintenance, testing, and repair on network systems. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Requires 10-15 years of related work experience, Bachelor's degree, technical training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent problem solving, organizational and analytical skills are also required. A+ certification required. Ten years experience installing and maintaining networks, network system administration, NOS, Desktop Applications, Desktop Operating systems, and customer support required. Must possess multiple Network Operating System certifications and other professional certifications as required.

Qualifications:

Louisville Network Support, Level 2

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support 8:00am ET to 4:30pm ET Weekdays on-site at Appliance Park in Louisville, KY
  • 1st Level On-Call for support of network incidents for sites and businesses supported by GE Appliances & Lighting
  • 2nd Level On-Call for support of network incidents for sites and businesses supported by GE Appliances & Lighting - remote and local
  • Resolution or escalation of incidents as needed to Level 3 network support
  • Work directly with Telco ISP's to resolve all WAN issues
  • Technologies supported include (but not limited to):
    • Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Access Points, Wireless Controllers.
    • F5 Load balancers (LTM & GTM).
    • Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Ability to respond to incidents 4:30 PM ET - 11 PM ET on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to be individually assigned entire network config/deploy projects and successfully complete them alone with minimal supervision
  • Manage, Assign and close Network Service Requests and other network workflows such as IP Address request, Port Configuration Request, etc.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Deploy/install/label physical cabling infrastructure
  • Circuit provisioning/disconnecting
  • Hardware configuration/deployment/installation/movement
  • Internal Project tasks such as device upgrades and replacements
  • Minimal travel may be required. All travel requires pre-approval.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of networking experience
  • Network Troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking
  • Proficient in Cisco network devices (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, access-points)
  • Proficient in Cisco IOS command line configuration and diagnostics
  • Knowledge of F5 network hardware
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto network hardware
  • Proficient of Network infrastructure cabling
  • Expert in IP Addressing, subnetting, and IP Routing
  • Proficient in Fiber-optic networking, and all Fiber Layer 1 issues
  • Skilled in EIGRP & OSPF configuration and troubleshooting
  • Skilled in VLAN, 802.1q, STP, QoS, Port mirroring, and Cisco VTP configuration and troubleshooting
  • Proficient in WLAN and WAP configuration and troubleshooting
  • Firewall pinholes, load balancing, Proxy management
  • ACL config, manage, troubleshoot
  • VPN planning, config, implementation, manage, troubleshoot
  • Experience with TACACS+, RADIUS, Kerberos, CHAP, MS-CHAP, EAP
  • Experience with DMZ configuration & deployment

Other:

  • GE to provide Laptop PC, Cell Phone, and VPN account/token
