POSITION SUMMARY

Lead Network Architect is responsible for oversight of enterprise strategies for computing hardware, operating systems, storage, system software, and infrastructure. This person ensures a comprehensive strategy across technical boundaries, and coordinates the design and implementation of an evolving technical architecture. The Lead Network Architect works closely with the Network Engineers, reviewing technical designs, and providing technical direction. This person collaborates with architects and engineers from other disciplines to ensure the best comprehensive design for the environment. The Lead Network Architect may also assist with or direct the resolution of complex technical problems. This position reports to the Director of Network Engineering

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Provide technical excellence in at least four core platforms (Routing and Switching, DWDM, Wireless, Network Protocols, Cable Plant, IPTV, Service Delivery).
  • Provide technical familiarity with additional core platforms (Windows, Citrix, Storage, UNIX, AS400, VM).
  • Provide long-term vision and strategy for enterprise network architecture.
  • Coordinate the research of emerging technologies and the timing of introduction of such technologies.
  • Provide leadership for the identification and introduction of new technologies.
  • Consult with users on technology capabilities and limitation.
  • Guide the overall technical direction for the company for network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical direction to the Network Engineering (NE) Teams.
  • Develop close working relationships with all the NE teams and other engineering teams.
  • Provide leadership for the identification and introduction of network monitoring strategies.
  • Conduct presentations to management and/or technical staff to describe architectures and visions.
  • Architect secure, robust, reliable, and scalable engineering solutions.
  • Define strategic direction for network protocols, routing, switching, DWDM, wireless and network infrastructure.
  • Understand business needs.
  • Collaborate with IT Operations.
  • Measure Architecture performance to determine areas for improvement.
  • Provide third or highest level support on core platforms.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support.
  • Articulate implementation strategies for new technologies into our environment to Network Engineering.
  • Provide guidance for critical system interactions during technology implementations and migrations.
  • Performs other work related duties as requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Lead Network Architect does not have any direct/official supervisory responsibilities but is responsible to guide and mentor other less senior network architects and will drive projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required

  • 12 or more years of experience in the network computing field required.
  • JCNIE or CCIE certification in one or more networking verticals.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge on the components of IT Architecture required.
  • Project management skills including: project planning; structure; detail-oriented; discipline; project execution and follow-through.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar resort setting.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • JCNIE or CCIE certification in one or more networking verticals.
  • Project Management Certifications a plus.
  • Must have or be able to obtain Nevada, Michigan, and Mississippi Gaming Licenses.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Experience in at least four core platforms (Routing and Switching, DWDM, Wireless, Network Protocols, Cable Plant, IPTV, Service Delivery).
  • Technical familiarity with additional core platforms (Windows, Citrix, Storage, UNIX, AS400, VM.)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge or experience with various compliance bodies such as PCI, SOX, MICS preferred.
  • Strong communications skills, with the ability to interact with end-users to understand requirements and develop comprehensive and complete solutions that incorporate technology, administration and business processes. Must be able to present these complete solutions to all tiers of management.
  • Ability to work on a team as well as independently with minimal supervision to achieve project milestones and deadlines.
  • Good understanding of casino/hotel environment and computing operations within and how business structure is affected by changes.
  • Must be knowledgeable of 24x7 operations.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS

Regular scheduled hours - Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Must be flexible if needed for occasional work outside of normal business hours.
