SQL Server DBA

Summary:

The SQL Server DBA (Database Administrator) will participate in performance tuning, replication, mirroring, clustering, data warehousing, backup and recovery, and support of the production and QA databases. As the Database Administrator, you will design and support MS SQL Server databases for 24/7 mission critical applications in the HME/DME market. It is critical that you provide practical, relevant experience as a creative problem solver and have the proven ability to solve tough challenges with high quality solutions. The ideal candidate needs to be a fairly senior level person that has worked in a fast-paced environment (a software company is a huge plus), along with being okay with the off-hour work that comes with deployments. Most of the work is production but we need someone with a mix of development DBA and production DBA experience. Responsibilities:

  • Microsoft SQL Server administration and maintenance functions of production and QA databases in a 24/7 mission critical environment
  • Participate in database server architecture and design as well as server environment recommendations for the overall infrastructure solution including storage capacity planning
  • Responsible for database alerts, maintenance plans and scripts
  • Manage database security and control access permissions and privileges
  • Maintain the health, performance and integrity of the database systems
  • Responsible for availability, reliability and integrity of business data stored in production databases
  • Communicate regularly with the development team, business and operations team to ensure the security and confidentiality of data
  • Resolve production database issues with team members and implement improvements to prevent a recurrence of the issue
  • Backup and restore databases as necessary
  • Design and develop architecture for data warehouse including source data ETL strategy, data movement and aggregation as well as data quality strategy

Qualifications:

  • Several years of experience working as a hands-on MS SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 Database Administrator
  • Experience in replication, data warehouse and scalability - Disaster Recovery
  • Strong skills and experience in performance tuning - Index, Table, Queries and Stored procedures
  • Data modelling skills for enterprise data warehouses and data marts
  • Experience with Triggers, Stored Procedures and SQL Server Queries
  • Experience in a 24/7 high availability production database environment
  • Ability to think logically and analyze business process requirements and convert them to accurate database structure and logic
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent priorities and meet deadlines within an dynamic, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge designing SSIS packages
  • Strong knowledge of SSRS
  • Experience with one or more Business Intelligence tools
  • Agile software methodology experience a plus
  • Oracle experience and/or data warehousing experience a plus
