Systems Engineer/Senior Systems Administrator

Yoh has a contract opportunity available for a Systems Engineer/Senior Systems Administrator with both Windows and Unix experience to join our client located in Little Rock, AR.

Job Responsibilities:

- Responsible for performing technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for data center systems.
- This position functions as the technical lead for all design-to-cost and life cycle activities for small to large-scale data center projects, and establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect the data center.
- Plans and executes a variety of highly complex assignments associated with managing and controlling data center systems.
- Analyzes system faults, troubleshoots, and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to work on complex problems.
- Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing.
- Coordinates the remote testing of products in other areas.
- Reviews and prepares documentation for systems, tests and installation of software.
- Investigates and recommends methods and techniques to be used for obtaining solutions.
- Initiates preventive maintenance on the various systems as well as repair to system/environment problems.
- Responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff.
- Participates in 24x7x365 on-call rotation to support the data center environment.

Job Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other Engineering discipline.
- Three (3+) years as a UNIX system administrator (including Sun and Redhat Linux).
- Four (4+) years professional experience as a Systems Administrator in a Windows environment.
- Three (3) years of experience as a VMware system administrator.
- Experience building and operating Windows 2000/2003/2008, Linux, and Solaris server virtual machines.
- At least three (3) years of experience with storage systems (EMC Clarion preferred).
- At least three (3) years of experience with replication and tape backup.
- Strong understanding of virtualized networking with emphasis on Cisco Nexus and at least one year of hands on experience.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to details.
- Intimate working knowledge of TCP/IP, Windows 2003/2008 Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SQL Server, Oracle, Firewalls, Switches, Visio and MS Office.
- Candidate should understand the importance of operational discipline, processes, and procedures and be committed to working within their boundaries in an operational environment.
- Candidate must have strong communications, time management, customer service skills and a teamwork-based disposition.
