Description
The incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of High and Medium Voltage power distribution activities at the Utilities Plant in Geismar, LA.

Under the direction/supervision of the Utilities Technology Team Leader and in conjunction with the Power Distribution Team and the Utilities Operations Team, this position will oversee the long term, and strategic operation and development of the high and medium voltage power distribution activities and equipment. The incumbent will serve as the focal point for further development of electrical infrastructure processes in the plant. He/she will serve as the local owner of the Safety Concept for electrical infrastructure and power distribution. This position will assist in troubleshooting operational problems and providing technical input/support to the Utilities Operations Team and the Power Distribution Team.

Utilize engineering knowledge to make key decisions on operating practices and formulate/challenge ideas to improve the site's electrical infrastructure in a sustainable fashion. Focus on long-term and strategic improvements on equipment which include 4.16kV, 13.8kV, 34.5kV and 230kV power distribution, Co-Gen generators, high voltage substations, transformers, switchgears, starters, protection relays, emergency generators, motors, UPS equipment, batteries and other systems.

Additional responsibilities:
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), distribution and utilization metrics for proactive identification and resolution of operability issues
- Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and communicate switching/maintenance with the individual operating units and public Utility (Entergy).
- Evaluate new technologies and participate on the site and North American Electrical Engineering Center of Excellence
- Identify and recommend changes in existing power distribution system and suggest changes in plans to meet operational or department requirements and regulations
- Maintain the site one-line diagrams. Update as needed based upon input from electricians where discrepancies are found
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems
- Provide technical input to and create power distribution operating procedures
- Develop and maintain site long -term strategy and master plan for electrical growth, reliability and infrastructure improvements
- Interface with transmission service provider and internal energy management team
- Assist in Budgeting, review :cost projections, billing, monthly cost forecasts (power costs)
- Coordination and communication of outages
- Manufacturing Representative for Capital Projects
- Regulatory compliance, communications, and record-keeping
- Provide input to the maintenance group for Scheduling PM's and equipment outages
- Development of business case for reliability improvements
- Implement Lean Manufacturing Tools, ensure plant optimization targets are being met by monitoring plant operations and Real Time dashboards, take responsibility for small day-to-day operational improvements if requested, monitor and review Alarm management reports, conduct electrical system troubleshooting.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

This position requires a BS in Electrical Engineering with at least 8 years experience in electrical distribution systems operations and troubleshooting, including 4.16kV and higher. Working knowledge/mastery of theory and operation of high voltage and medium voltage electrical distribtuion systems.

- 12 Plus years of industrial electrical engineering experience

- Electrical Project Engineer experience
- Plant electrical system design/standards experience
- Experience in maintenance and reliability of high voltage electrical systems
- Experience in performing calucations to support coordination, relaying, etc.
