Currently we are searching for a Business Analyst to join our Custom Software Solutions department in Potomac, MD. The Business Analyst will primarily be responsible for business requirements gathering and analysis, including identifying business needs, evaluating potential enhancements and developing solutions to business problems. The candidate will also have the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of various business functions, becoming a functional Subject Matter Expert. Total Wine & More uses both custom and off the shelf software solutions providing the candidate with the opportunity to be involved with all phases of the software development life cycle on small, medium and large scale projects. The Business Solutions Group works on projects with every department in the company, making this position an excellent opportunity to gain a breadth of experience.

Essential Functions:
Business Analysis
- Quickly understands the business issues and data challenges of our organization and industry
- Works with business owners and users to determine current and planned functionality and business processes
- Assists various project leads with ad-hoc business analysis tasks
- Leads application requirements and design sessions, driving stakeholders to make sound decisions
- Thoroughly tests system functionality
Application knowledge
- Develops deep expertise in detailed application functionality
- Understands interdependencies between various custom applications
- Serves as a go-to application subject matter expert for others' questions
Organization and Documentation
- Creates detailed business and functional requirements documents, use cases, and test scripts
- Writes and executes effective test plans and test cases, manage requirements traceability, document test results, track defects, and work with developers to resolve issues
Customer Satisfaction
- Communicates project status and application issues to necessary stakeholders and supervisor
- Communicates effectively with customers to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
- Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen relationships
- Manages customer expectations effectively
Requirements:
- Three years' of business analysis and requirements gathering experience for custom software development projects
- Proven, demonstrated capability in
- Gathering and documenting complex business and functional requirements
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Working familiarity with the following is a plus
- Basic SQL query writing
- Application architecture fundamentals
