Production Planner/Scheduler

Yoh has a one (1) year+ contract position for two Production Planner/Schedulers in to join our client Gloucester, MA.

Client Overview:

Our client Applied Materials/Varian Semiconductor Equipment is a leading manufacturer of ion implantation systems, powering the Internet, the PC, telecommunications and the information age. Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates, Inc. (VSEA) designs, manufactures, and services semiconductor processing equipment used in the fabrication of integrated circuits. They are dedicated to meeting the exacting demands of IC production and satisfying the ion implantation needs of IC manufacturers worldwide

Job Responsibilities:
- Work with manufacturing to develop and implement initiatives to reduce production cycle time.
- Develop actions to reduce shortages at machine laydown and prepare "can build" optimization.
- Develop effective outsourcing plans with manufacturing and procurement.
- Ensure Bill of materials (BOM) and production routings are accurate and up to date in reflection to current practice.
- Ensure accuracy of all other ERP/MRP system data such as requirements plan, item master and cost.
- Liaise with purchasing to ensure materials are delivered in line with production requirements.
- Assist with New Product Introduction projects from a planning/material point of view.
- Actively participate in lean activities to drive improvements across the site.
- Configure, analyze and actively drive improvements on relevant key performance indicators.
- Monitor customer service through reports and drive two way communications with internal customers.
- Manage and drive inventory reduction through pull systems, inventory counts and data management.

Job Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in business, management, technical, or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel.
- Ability to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, great attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Experience in a "pull/kanban" environment a definite plus.
- Experience using automated materials management systems (MRP) to manage production activity in a discrete assembly environment.
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in production/material control activities in an electronic manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of SAP preferred; APICS Certification is a plus.
