About the Job

The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for managing multiple product components belonging to the division's licensed Content Delivery Networks (CDN) solution portfolio. In this role, the incumbent will manage the roadmap of those components and the corresponding engineering backlog, working in an agile product development organization. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management for CPD, the Senior Product Manager will work closely with the CPD Engineering team, CPD leadership team and Carrier Sales teams.

The Senior Product Manager will function as an agile/scrum product owner for the core caching components of CPD's licensed CDN portfolio. In addition to defining and evolving these critical components, including requirements definition, prioritization and backlog management, the incumbent will also contribute to customer engagements, pricing and proposals.

About the Team

Akamai's Carrier Product Division (CPD) is a dynamic new business unit responsible for developing and selling CDN products for network service providers (Telcos, ISPs, MSOs). These products include both licensed and SaaS offerings, sold under Akamai's Aura brand, for multiple use cases including multi-screen video delivery, retail CDN and network bandwidth offload. The division consists of business development, engineering, product management and support, and works closely with several other groups within Akamai and external partners.

Responsibilities:
- Product owner for one or more products in the licensed CDN portfolio.
- Prioritization and backlog management for the above products.
- Documentation and communication of business and technical requirements.
- Roadmap evolution and lifecycle management of the above products.
- Customer communication in conjunction with product marketing and sales.
- Process management through multiple launch phases and release milestones.
- Management of corresponding price lists.
- Contributions to customer RFx responses and other product documentation.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Education: BA/BS degree. Master's degree or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of technical work experience in the technology industry.
- 5+ years of experience in product management.
- 3+ years of experience in CDN or related space, or in products sold to network service providers.

Desired Qualifications
- Strong technical background in networking.
- Experience in web and caching technologies.
- Experience as a product owner in an agile/scrum development organization.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to convey product vision.
- Experience in an early stage company or business unit.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven, high growth venture.
- Strong ability to influence and work collaboratively with people at all levels.
- Strong reputation as a thought leader with awareness of technology trends.
