Description:
The Network Engineer will provide expert level design solutions for the current corporate DNS system within SAIC taking into account availability, scalability, security and manageability as appropriate. Will also perform network engineering on a broad range of programs providing overall support for various business-critical networks. Tasks involve the full system engineering life-cycle including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, test, and implementation.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a IT related technical field is required plus 8 years IT experience. Advanced degree a plus.
Understanding of Unix, Linux and Windows operating systems from an administration perspective and how they perform as network nodes
Experience with vendor appliances/software for IP management as well as strong fundamental understanding of DNS and DHCP
5+ years DNS/DHCP/BIND experience
5+ years Unix/Linux environment skills
Understanding of Microsoft's Active Directory Service
Understanding of DNSSEC theory and application
Demonstrated understanding of Anycast routing
Practical knowledge of IPv6
5+ years experience in LAN/WAN/Data Center implementation & support for an Enterprise network consisting of remote locations, campus/MetroE and Data Center environments
Must possess strong knowledge in network theory & systems
Knowledge of routers, switches, multiple communication protocols, Intranet and the Internet.
Understanding of project management, a successful candidate will be required to handle many simultaneous projects
Demonstrated attention to detail in regards to project planning and documentation
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and with written documentation
Exceptional work ethic
Willingness to share knowledge and train others within a team environment. Able to deliver ConOps to the operational support teams
Ability to apply judgment, implement solutions, and resolved conflicts, all in a multi-tasked environment
Performs other duties as assigned by management
Familiarity with Remedy ticket application or equivalent or large-scale network monitoring software
Experience supporting multiple vendors such as BlueCat, Cisco, Brocade (Foundry) and Aruba (wireless) and F5 (BigIP)
UNIX Scripting with PERL using SOAP and/or vendor-supplied APIs to interface with routers, switches, DNS/DHCP appliances, backend-dBs, etc.
Unified communications technology architecture design/support experience a plus
