The Database Analyst in this contract position plans and coordinates the administration of computerized databases, including relational databases, to ensure accurate, appropriate, and effective use of data, including database definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, and operational guidelines. In addition, s/he performs quality control audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper usage of data in tables and various support tools, such as database dictionaries.
This position will work extensively in the Microsoft SQL and Oracle database environments. The candidate is responsible for all global database support by following established build processes and procedures. The candidate handles software issues related to daily database operations.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews database design and integration of systems, including client/Servers, mainframes, etc., and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
- May establish and maintain security and integrity controls.
- Participates in the design, implementation and maintenance of database systems.
- Understands and meets needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications, in addition to systems integration, which may include client/Servers, mainframes, etc.
- Provides appropriate consulting, interfacing, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization.
- Prepares and/or reviews activity, progress, and performance reports.
- Assists in the training of other team members as relates to specific database.
- Applies knowledge and continues to learn to program and write code for the specific database applications used to support or enhance customer needs.
- Displays strong teamwork skills. Enjoys working in a global team.
- Builds productive vendor relationships.
- Documents and presents to management different IT issues.
Functional Expertise:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012 platforms
- Microsoft Windows and SQL Server clustering
- Microsoft SQL Server and Windows account management
- Microsoft group permissions and Active Directory Architecture
- Oracle 9i, 10g and 11g database administration as well as an understanding of new features of Oracle 12c
- Performance monitoring techniques on SQL and/or Oracle server software and hardware
- Tuning diagnosis via scripts and/or interfaces (TOAD, SQLDeveloper, etc.)
- Allocating and deallocating disk space to logical and physical objects in Oracle
- Oracle PL/SQL
- Scripting languages including PERL and Powershell
- Familiarity with Regular Expressions
- Oracle RMAN concepts
- UNIX/Linux operating system (including ksh, bsh and/or csh Scripting) and Veritas Cluster Management
- Familiarity with Azure and/or other Cloud based technologies
- Strong SQL, T-SQL, and ETL analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 for effective design of data migration packages
- Design, Develop, Test, and Debug SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages
- Design SSIS packages using various workflow, control flow tasks and data flow transformations for heterogeneous data integrations, migrations, and splits
- Establish and document procedures outside the scope of the standardized SSIS package design methodologies
- Create and design databases using industry best practices
- Create T-SQL scripts for testing data migration splits and for data import integrations
- Experience with SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) for importing and migrating data
- Experience with Microsoft Excel 2007 or 2010 data manipulation techniques and common data housekeeping functions
- Create, troubleshoot, debug, and manage SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) data migration jobs and stored procedures.
- Create, troubleshoot, debug, and manage SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) indexes and compressions for large data migrations
- Implement ASP.NET or ADO.NET data classes, or ASP Classic to design and configure for SQL or Oracle data anomalies based on types of challenged validations.
- Setup SSMS credentials and proxies to execute SSIS ETL jobs
- Experience in Archive Index and Data Mover databases as a typical client application using data migration SQL Server Management (SMO).Net Objects
- Manage and manipulate data migrations and validations via heterogeneous enterprise database systems, such as Sybase, SQL Server, and Oracle into a single repository
- Prepare SSRS technique based DECOMM task tracking reports via HTML and ASP development.
- Ability to work remotely on database support with a global team
Essential Qualifications:
- Current MS SQL certification and/or Oracle certification
- Requires 2-5 years related experience

- Familiarity with Veritas clustering technology
- Good English reading, writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a global operation 7 days x 24 hours
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent
