Job Description
Responsibilities include the design, development maintenance, support and optimization of medication use process supporting clinical information systems and automation as well as the management and delivery of medication related data, information and knowledge (clinical decision support systems). Must understand pharmacy practice and the application of health care technology and analytics to improve medication related outcomes. Participates in the planning, resource and project management of medication technology related quality or safety improvement initiatives. Effectively interacts and communicates with all other departments' particularly information technology, systems and procedures, nursing and medical staffs. Serves as a preceptor to hospital pharmacy residents or degree candidates from pharmacy schools. 001295-45152
Basic Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or B.S.Pharmacy degree and completion of an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency in pharmacy informatics or other specialty and at least two years of pharmacy informatics or clinical practice experience or a PGY1 general practice residency with a minimum of three years pharmacy informatics or clinical practice experience; or equivalent experience. Equivalent experience includes a minimum of five years relevant practice experience in pharmacy informatics or clinical practice. Strong commitment to excellence. Project management and coordination skills. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and data base applications. Ability to communicate effectively, works collaboratively with others, and works independently with minimal supervision.
Other Qualifications:
The following are preferred: Experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of clinical decision support systems, health care analytics, data and information modeling/management. Deep understanding of health care and delivery system processes. Understanding of core pharmacy operations and have developed expertise in end- medication use management including communication with other information systems. Provide the expertise to effectively translate and seamlessly communicate the language of medication use across medication use systems and the continuum of care. Ability to interpret and implement requirements to ensure the safe and comprehensive use of medications across all disciplines and processes. Looks at the medication use process with the analytical eye of the design engineer.
License or Certification:
License to practice Pharmacy in the State of Minnesota.
