Description

The role of the Senior Data Architect is to design, implement, and tune various types of databases. The candidate will also participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure security, data integrations, and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. The person who fills this position will work under the direction of the Database Manager.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Database Architecture and Support
- Advanced knowledge of database concepts and tools for SQL Server.
- Provides technical leadership on complex projects involving a broad range of expertise and disciplines.
- Experience architecting transactional systems for high traffic and scalability while maintaining high availability.
- Works with Database, Data Warehouse, and Software Development Teams to optimize query performance and design while maintaining industry best practices.
- Provide direction and mentoring for Data Architects, including code review and formal approvals.
- Translate business requirements and concepts into the creation of scripts for custom data manipulation.
- Facilitate integrations with new and existing systems.
- Automates recurring duties to reduce turnaround time and increase repeatability.
- Document procedures related to development, management, and administrative processes leveraged in SQL Server.
- Participates in Problem Determination and Root Cause Analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills that allow the potential candidate to work effectively as a leader in a Matrix team environment.
- Works well in a fast-paced environment.
- Other duties as assigned.

On-Call
- Participates in a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule as well as working during off-hours maintenance windows.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Microsoft T-SQL/SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 (6 years minimum)
- Database Design (4 years minimum)
- OLAP and OLTP Environment Experience
- Microsoft SQL SSIS
- Performance Tuning
- Proficiency with Window's Office Suite

PREFERRED SKILLS
- Data Modeling Experience (Embarcadero ER Studio or Erwin)
- SSRS and SSAS
- Database Administration
- Experience managing SQL Server clustering
- Backup and Disaster Recovery Experience
- Database Security
- Compliance Experience (SOX, PCI, HIPAA)

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
- Microsoft Powershell
- Red Gate
- System Monitoring (Orion)
- Splunk

EDUCATION and/or Experience
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education
