Implementation and Support Engineer

Overview

This position is to provide Technical Implementation and support within a team focused on the service delivery of products, systems & networks within the Data Scope suite of products/infrastructures. Driving down incident rates and working with 1st line Operations to improve service recovery times. To ensure that all aspects of operability are delivered as part of the implementation process while ensuring that existing service levels are maintained or improved. Ensure full compliance to operational standards, procedures and best practice. This involves close liaison with various operational, project, development and product teams as well working within the Service Organization to ensure ongoing service and support can be maintained to agreed service levels. Operates a companys internal data communications systems, including LANs and/or WANs. Plans, designs and implements networked systems, including configurations, supporting/troubleshooting network problems and coordinating with vendors for installation of such items as Routers, bridges, concentrators and Switches. Works on project implementation. Provides training and assists with proposal writing. Conducts project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons. May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, Web-enabled solutions.

Responsibilities
- Implement BAU changes and new hardware and software builds
- Resolve incidents escalated from 1st level operation and application teams
- Create and update documentation of system configurations, work instructions, and service recovery plan Provide training to 1st level operation team
- Execute site failover test and DR process
- Manage IRT's and perform role of recovery manager.

Qualifications

Preferred Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in Windows Servers and applications (MS Cluster, IIS) administration
- 2-5 years expertise in Unix. Preferably Solaris.
- Good knowledge of local and wide area networking
- Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work with global teams as well as individually with minimum supervision
- Ability to work in a flexible schedule

Desired Skills
- Knowledge of ITIL process
- Experience with Management Systems such as Tivoli
- Previous experience working in complex and mission critical environment
- Knowledge of Veritas software
- Knowledge of Thomson Reuters products such as RMDS, MLIP, and 3000 Xtra

Education

Example: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required; MBA preferred.
