Software QA Engineer
OverviewThe primary responsibilities of this position are to perform in-depth system & software integration testing of market data Servers & applications.
- Develop, document, implement, and maintain test plans to meet QA specifications
- Conduct testing using company specific, manual, or automated testing tools or processes
- Produce test reports and manage defects using company standard methods
- Provide regular status reports to managementResponsibilities
- Responsible for providing the planning, integration, casing, peer review, scripting, and execution of all tests required of a single software change or project.
- Develops and maintains test plans, test environments, test cases, test scripts and/or workflow usage including alignment to client configurations when necessary
- Executes test scripts/cases using company specific manual and/or automated processes. Communicates the results of testing.
- Tests modules of larger software products or smaller stand-alone software products to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects. Documents all problems and works to resolve them.
- Reviews business requirements and designs specifications for low to moderately complex changes/systems for completeness and testability.
- Diagnoses and resolves technical and operational problems on installed networks, systems or products.
- Makes recommendations for process improvements to immediate manager or appropriate levels of management.
- Implements pre-determined improvements to current procedures and reports on success of changes.
- Is accountable for contributions for project team or sub team. May lead project sub team. This may include responsibility for training staff.
- Ability to work in a global QA team environment with shared test development and execution workload. Works on projects/changes of minimal to medium complexity.
- Requires a general understanding of end-to-end market data flow and system level understanding of data processing. Candidate must also be able to troubleshoot network level data flow and content issues for environment and integration test management.
- Accountable for the quality of own work, delivered within agreed procedures and timeframes and focused on internal and/or external customer needs.
- Often works independently within defined parameters, taking ownership of problems within own area of knowledge. Often asked to work with others with various specializations in order to facilitate end-to-end testing. Decisions taken are made within guidelines set by the programme or global team.
- Some roles are responsible for limited co-ordination of the work of others. Qualifications
Required Skills
- 3-5 years minimum testing or other development experience
- Experience of formal software development lifecycle, with a solid understanding of software testing methodologies and tools
- Experience with UNIX (Solaris), Linux, and all Windows Operating Systems
- Knowledge of TCP/IP & UDP Multicast fundamentals and troubleshooting
- Experience working with financial market data feeds from a variety of exchanges/contributors.
- Ability to establish successful and results-oriented working relationships with a diverse set of personalities
- Proactive team player with the ability to work in global dynamic environments.
- Ability to work under tight schedule with high stress tolerance.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong analytical, problems solving and interpersonal skills
- Must be a self-starter with excellent initiative and an ability to inspire others to a higher standardDesired Skills
- Experience working with Reuters Market Data System (RMDS)
- Experience with Siebel, Team Track, Service Center, Quality Center
- Experience working with TR Infrastructures such as Elektron, IDN, TDN, BDN
- Experience working with TR products such as GEDA and FMS, RDFD, RDF, Xtra
- Experience in performance testing with multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications
- Experience in writing Unix scripts, xml, html, asp's, perl, and windows command files
- Strong knowledge of global markets
- Experience of CMM process framework.
