Senior Application Support Engineer - Permanent

Yoh has a direct opportunity for a Senior Application Support Engineer to join our client in Mobile, AL.

Job Responsibilities:

- Participates in operational activities such as application monitoring, production support, application troubleshooting and log monitoring.
- Supports and installs both proprietary and third-party software applications.
- Performs data analysis and creates SQL scripts for data modifications.
- Works closely with DBAs to perform application support, trouble-shooting, database design, database architecture, SQL programming, consultation and technical guidance with MS SQL server and Oracle databases.
- Works closely with the data center team to assist in maintaining both Windows and Linux systems.
- Writes documentation to describe requirements, designs, testing and implementation that is professional and grammatically correct.
- Recommends hardware configurations as they pertain to application performance, high availability and maintainability.
- Works closely with multiple development teams to insure that applications are correctly designed for business, technical and operating requirements.
- Understands corporate goals and customers needs and recommends improvements that balance these.
- Communicates with vendors on new and existing products that will be useful to the current multi-domain environment for hardware and software products.
- Participates in the oncall production support rotation and may occasionally be required to do work at the office during non-business or late night hours. Coordinates cross-team problem-solving sessions when needed.
- May lead and manage others in both a technical and business capacity.
- Leads projects as needed.
- Various other responsibilities.

Job Qualifications:

- Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology (IT) discipline from a four-year college or university.
- Proficient in Windows 2000/2003/2008 OS, Redhat Linux OS, SQL Server 2000/2005/2008, Oracle 10, MySQL, other software programs required.
- Experience with proprietary application support and database querying/manipulation with a mix of OS (Windows, Unix/Linux) experience.
- Must be able to work rotational on call.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
