Project JEDI (Janssen Excellence in Development Initiative) is a multi-year, Janssen R&D-wide (global) initiative to increase the value of R&D Operations by optimizing our output, time, cost and capabilities with the highest degree of quality and compliance. The program consists of eight work streams each with focused objectives. The Planning & Controls work stream is focused on proactive planning, timely forecasting and improve tracking of operation's activities. This role will initially be assigned to this work stream with responsibility for the successful delivery of Project Envision. This project consists of data warehouse and advanced analytic tools to enable a data driven decision culture. This role will be responsible to partner with the business lead(s) to align objectives, scope, and requirements; develop and monitor project plans; identify/mitigate risks and issues; ensure solution meets objectives; partner with IT Operations to ensure successful transition to steady state. While this position will be focused on JEDI initially, ongoing the role will be responsible for IT portfolio planning and project delivery within the planning and financial domains. This is a large and diverse portfolio with focus on innovative and evolving capabilities.

Specific responsibilities include:

Participate in strategic planning with business partners; Contributes to the development of IT strategy to enable business outcomes; Forms strong partnerships with business stakeholders; proactively managing expectations; Identifies opportunities to significantly enhance business performance, including opportunities or synergies that involve new technologies; Evaluates new, emerging technologies against business needs and leads the introduction of technology innovation into the business process; Optimizes a business solutions technology portfolio and advises business partners on approaches to maximize value (eg, retirements, upgrades, leveraging opportunities, functionality extensions).

Analyzes complex business strategies, competitive issues and/or change initiatives, discerning their implications for multiple initiatives and programs; Manages the planning and execution of projects - covering all the Project Management phases including budget and resource management including external partners; Proactively manages potential conflicts that may arise on project including risk, quality, scope, schedule, and cost. Identifies risks and develops strategies to ensure appropriate risk mitigation; Monitor and measure the performance of top programs ensuring the performance and recovery of any troubled programs or projects are met; Mentor and develop talent (within functional and Matrix area of responsibility).

Qualifications

Skills Required: Strong understanding of technology; Highly effectively communication skills and ability to communicate highly technical information suitable for diverse audiences; Estimation, planning and monitoring; Ability to work with high degree of ambiguity in a fast-paced, evolving environment; Big picture orientation with attention to detail. Ability to link and translate strategy into actionable plans; Interdependent partnering; Collaboration and Teaming; Sense of urgency; Strategic Thinking; Effectively manage virtual teams; Acclimate quickly to new process and technologies.

A BS/BA Degree required in IT Management or related area; Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of eight years IT experience and proven track record of project delivery and business relationship management is required. Understanding of R&D development processes and working knowledge of planning processes and financial systems is preferred. Experience with large scale data warehouse and visualization projects required; experience with Tableau, SpotFire, Cognos, P5 and SAP is preferred.
