Description
The IT Manager, Teradata is responsible for managing all assigned project and support activities on behalf of the Application Services (AS) Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing Team. The Teradata Manager should have broad knowledge of the data warehouse space with expert knowledge of Teradata specific products. The focus of this position will be to provide architecture, design, development and delivery oversight and guidance on Teradata BI/DW implementations and base business operational support. They will lead cross-functional projects to deliver high value reporting and analytical solutions to business units across the company. This position will be responsible for managing ongoing relationships between the IT Application Services and Business Unit IT (BUIT) partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures delivery of assigned Teradata projects and support services to various Business Unit IT (BUIT) groups, meeting or exceeding the expectations set in the SOWs. Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of existing Teradata application portfolio and planned Teradata direction/projects for various BUITs. Review Business Concepts, discuss fit and applicability and support the integration/modeling of the Business Concepts into the Teradata LSLDM. Participates in conceptual, logical and physical design sessions as well as security design and architecture reviews. Introduce and coach project teams in using industry best practices specific to Teradata, Informatica and Cognos in Design, Coding and solution delivery. Conduct Reference Logical Data Modeling Training with Respect to Project Scope. Develops and maintains strong partnerships across the IT Community (AS teams, IT Shared Service, BUIT Partners, GAM, AS Vendors) to drive effective Project Delivery and Application Support Services including: Resolution of complex problems across Teradata Environment; Implementation of IT programs and initiatives (eg ISM); Coordination of IT Global and Regional changes; Ensures Application Services process compliance through effective use and implementation of all AS processes, including SOWs, Pricing and Resourcing. Ensures all AS Projects and Support Services comply with applicable laws, regulations, standards, J&J policies and BUIT policies and procedures. Practices effective project management including: Manage delivery timelines and project plan. Manage major risks and issues through effective contingency plans and proper escalation and appropriately communicate to all stake holders. Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with BUIT Management at all levels. Influence design and requirement decisions with the BUIT and Business Client. Provide Status reporting and maintain BUIT relationships. Manage global project teams engaged in multiple projects. Ensures compliance to J&J Change Management practices. Ensures adherence to J&J SDLC and Compliance Processes (including SOx and GXP). Develops recommendations for continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of AS BI/DW Processes. Investigates and researches BI/DW solutions for business challenges and problems. Investigates future BI/DW software releases and opportunities, assessing the impact on assigned BUIT applications and companies.
Qualifications
Bachelors of Computer Science or equivalent Business Degree required. A minimum of 10 years overall IT experience is required. A minimum of 7 years hands on experience in a Teradata BI environment required. A minimum of 3 years of experience leading on- and off-shore technical teams required. Strong background in data architecture, data modeling & solution delivery required. Working knowledge of Finance and Supply Chain business processes preferred. Ability to translate business requirements into system solutions required. Experience working with Teradata utilities, such as FastLoad, MultiLoad, Tpump and TPT and Informatica PDO required. Experience delivering BI solutions using Informatica with Teradata required. Experience working in a COE model preferred. Experience in modeling using tools like ErWin and using industry standard data models like Teradata model for Life Sciences, etc. Strong project management skills to Manage and direct a global project team, including onsite and offshore resources. Demonstrated strength in Project management and SDLC skills - PMP certification preferred. Experience with Global Delivery and Support processes is preferred. Understanding of IT service management principles and practices; ITIL certification is preferred. Demonstrated ability to remotely manage working relationships and tasks and business partnerships preferred. Teradata Certifications desirable. Demonstrated collaboration and business partnering skills. Good troubleshooting and decision making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills. Full time position, located in Raritan or New Brunswick, NJ area. Some travel will be required to other J&J operating companies.
