Description
The Network Engineer role will be part of a distributed team of engineers responsible for the technical operations of the network infrastructure at Thomson Reuters internal offices. This role will provide on-site support for our New York City offices and be part of a global support organization.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Responsible for identifying, troubleshooting and resolving network-related issues.
- Collaborate and align with management, peers and global ITS operations teams focusing on technology operations.
- Learn and follow processes, policies and procedures to provide stable, predictable and high-performing network infrastructure services.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Implementation and Engineering teams to implement new services.
- Develop deep understanding of our internal customers and their needs and apply this learning to improve all aspects of our network services infrastructure.

-3+ years of related technical experience
-Excellent customer service and communication skills with a "Can Do" attitude
-A self-motivated individual who is able to take ownership of and work concurrently on multiple initiatives.
- Able to work across global boundaries and cultures with multiple technical and business groups.
- Proven ability to establish and develop relationships with all key stakeholders to facilitate a truly collaborative approach across the enterprise, identify potential challenges and deliver solutions in support of business strategies.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule to meet business requirements.
- Experience implementing and operating high performance networks primarily using Cisco hardware.
- Strive for continuous learning, exceptional results and teamwork
- Hands on troubleshooting and configuration experience.
-Working knowledge and understanding for a number of the following platforms/technologies:

Routing - BGP, OSPF, IGRP, MPLS, NAT, ACL's
Switching - Spanning tree, VTP, VLANS, CDP, HSRP
Protocol Analysis - TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SIP, VoIP
Cisco Core, Distribution and Access layer Switches
Cisco ASA platforms (Firewall, VPN, GSS)
Bluecoat WAN acceleration and Proxy SG Platforms
Cisco Wireless access points, wireless Lan controllers and NCS.
Palo Alto Networks Firewall platforms
Cisco configuration automation (Scripting)
Wan and LAN QoS - Policing and traffic shaping
Network Management tools and protocols - SNMP, ICMP, SSH, TACACS, Syslog,
Cisco and Tandberg Telepresence platforms
Checkpoint Firewalls
- Certifications a Plus (eg CCNA, CCNP, ITIL V3)
Travel:
- Some travel is required generally for project implementation support.
- Must be willing to travel up to 5% of the time, occasionally on short notice.
Location: The preferred location is the 3 Times Square, NYC office.
