Within Pearson Technology's Enabling Technologies engineering group, the Enterprise Application Integration team is responsible for development and deployment of software components associated with Service Integration, including Enterprise Service Bus, Business Process Management and other Middleware infrastructure tools, along with design and implementation of data formats, canonical messages and ESB/BPM core services. The team also has a role in advising the business on the use of ESB, BPM and related infrastructure and helping with delivery of message choreography and workflow orchestration.

Responsibilities
- Design and creation of components, data formats and core objects on service integration Middleware, using infrastructure from more than one vendor. The platform includes ESB, BPM, messaging, BAM, rules engine & service governance tools.
- Integration and testing of new releases of these software components.
- Management of all requirements, small enhancements and defect fixes associated with these software components, data formats and core objects.
- Ensuring correct hand-over of new versions of these software components to the Global Platform and Service group for global deployment.
- Working as trusted tech lead or technical adviser for integration tasks within business projects
- Some evangelization of the value of Service integration infrastructure across Pearson.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science field
- Proven track record of having programmatically used and extended a Service Bus, BMP suite or other service integration software tool in both a Microsoft and Unix-like environment.
- Proven track record of working in an agile development team using some level of continuous integration.
- Experience creating test suites.
- Ability to understand and meet requirements from internal customers.
- Experience developing software with solid system quality attributes (high performance, low footprint, scalable, robust etc).
- Fluency in OO, C++, Java, Unix-like & Microsoft operating systems, and Internet protocols.
- Fluency in some ESB/BPM systems (IBM WebSphere, Apache ServiceMix, Oracle Service Bus, MuleSoft, Microsoft BizTalk or others).
- Clear competency in general software engineering disciplines.
- Excellent communications and influencing skills.
- Must be adaptable, flexible and a team player.
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Good verbal, written and presentation skills.
