About the Job

The Senior Enterprise Architect (Senior EA) is a senior level technology leader who provides technical advisory services to key decision makers, and provides design services for the technical development and integration of solutions for enterprise customers based on Akamai's Intelligent Edge Platform. The Senior Enterprise Architect serves as the ultimate technical authority during a project, from scoping to customer sign-off. The Senior EA is involved early in the pre-sales cycle to determine feasibility of complex solutions, help qualify leads for value-added consulting opportunities, support with the scoping effort and ultimately help the Akamai sales teams grow their business in top tier accounts. The Senior EA will show high standards of leadership - provide subject-matter-expertise for new products to the rest of the organization and actively develop junior staff within the Global Services and Support organization through training and one-on-one mentorship.

About the Team

Recognizing that an organization's approach to its Internet initiatives is developed long before implementation and is an on-going exercise long after go-live, Akamai Professional Services offers consulting services that address all phases of a customer's Internet strategy.

The Advance Solutions Group within the Professional Services division is comprised of senior consultants with a unique combination of deep technology expertise and an understanding of the customer's business environment.

The Advance Solutions Group calls upon its Internet expertise to architect creative out-of-the-box solutions using Akamai's intelligent Edge Platform to meet our customer's unique business and technical requirements. The Advance Solutions Group also provides advisory services to ensure our customers incorporate the most up-to-date best practices in the areas of performance, scale and security into their web initiatives, to gain a competitive edge and meet the ever increasing expectations of their user base.

Responsibilities:

The Senior EA works with customers to define a strategy for business-critical web applications, multi-screen expansion and network infrastructure. The Senior EA provides advisory services to equip customers with latest technology best practices to achieve high performance, scale and security for their web applications. The Senior EA provides architectural guidance for customers going through re-platforming initiatives or preparing for large-scale events.

The Senior EA provides technical leadership to an extended Akamai team of Technical Project Managers and Solutions Architects as well as the customer's IT team on complex implementation projects to solve customer's specific requirements for high performing, scalable and reliable web infrastructure. The Senior EA addresses gaps in customer's architecture in areas including web Servers, application Servers and network infrastructure, and helps map Akamai's products and features to meet specific technical requirements. The Senior EA works closely with the customer's team throughout the life cycle of a project and provides guidance around requirements gathering, scoping, solution development, deployment, as well as documenting and training the customer to maintain the solution.

The Senior EA works closely with Product Management and R&D to develop future product direction and strategy - providing valuable input from the customers. The Senior EA will perform the role of subject matter expert for new products and act as liaison between the engineering and professional services teams.

The Senior EA educates both internal and external audiences on the latest technology trends, Internet best practices and Akamai-specific solutions for the most pressing customer needs around performance, scale and security. The Senior EA serves as an evangelist for both the Professional Services organization and for Akamai in general.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field degree.
- 5 years experience in consulting, professional services and/or other customer-facing role focused on delivering technical products or services.
- 2 years experience with Internet technologies including: TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SSL, VPN & Website Development.

Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, Master's degree in Business Administration.
- Exerience with strategy and/or technology consulting.
- Proven knowledge of web Servers, application Servers, accelerators, Routers and caching devices.
- Experience with web performance measurment and web optimization techniques.
- Programming experience in Python, Javascript, Java or Unix Shell Scripting.
- Experience with designing scalable web infrastructure
- Proven ability with mobile network architecture and application development.
- Proven ability working within a Content Delivery Network.
- Experience with full software development life cycle.
- Proven ability to manage large projects, problem solve, make quick decisions and a passion for excellence.
- Ability to operate independently and apply strategic thinking with technical depth.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
