Text Metadata Services (TMS) is a Research and Development group within Thomson Reuters that develops and maintains platforms and products that extract and resolve named entities, classify documents, extract facts and events, and enable entity-centric content analysis and decision support for use cases in financial, legal, scientific and other domains.

Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the designing and implementing various components of text processing systems using state of the art machine learning, information retrieval and NLP algorithms. As part of the TMS team, you will work with other experts from across the company in areas such as artificial intelligence, information retrieval, machine translation, modeling, algorithm design, categorization, entity extraction, search and more.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Build next generation knowledge extraction engines.
- Design and Develop high-performance algorithms around entity recognition and extraction.
- Maintain high quality of code and use software development best practices
- Conceive, design and implement solutions to difficult problems.
- Researching and investigating statistical machine learning and modeling techniques to apply to specific business cases
- Work with multiple groups across the organization to influence and deliver core technologies that can become base of category recognition, fact finding, entity extraction and other text processing systems.We are the leading source of intelligent information for the world's businesses and professionals, providing customers with competitive advantage. Qualifications

Previous Experience

Senior Software Engineer will need to have at-least four years of software development experience and broad knowledge of various IS technologies as well as expert knowledge in the areas of server side Java Development, parallel programming, full text indexing and search technologies, taxonomies, entity extraction techniques, distributed processing and strong NLP experience.



Education

Advanced degree in computer science or related field with significant exposure to machine learning, natural language processing, text analysis, data mining and distributed systems

Required Knowledge and Skills

- Excellent programming skills in server side JAVA
- Knowledge of: Templates, Patterns, principles of distributed architecture, full text indexing and context searches as well as debugging and testing tools and methodologies.
- Candidate should have an extremely strong background in mathematics and expert knowledge of algorithms.
- Knowledge of building of Ultra low latency systems on low bandwidth and low level protocols
- Good understanding of algorithms, performance optimization techniques, and object-oriented programming.
- Expert in multithreaded programming and parallel algorithms.
- Exposure to financial industry is desirable but not necessary.
- Knowledge and experience with machine learning algorithms such as support vector machines, Markov models, and Bayesian algorithms is desirable
