Job Description: Systems Analyst

Reporting to the Executive Director and the CGI Project Manager/Director of Operations, the systems analyst primary tasks will include:

1. Writing the system requirements document for the new Bureau Information System.
o Utilize good document planning strategies in constructing a system requirement document that reads well.
o Help create a comprehensive explanation of what is needed for the system.
o Interview various sources. Get information for the requirements document from unit supervisors and managers or anyone else with important information about the needs for the system development.
o Identify and explain restrictions or constraints within the requirements document to help further guide the IT developers.
o Consider any interface requirements. Help determine how the end-user will view the system. (Ensure the user-friendliness of the system.) Identify color schemes, command button requirements and any other part of a successful interface. Keeping in mind the programming tools that will be used to develop the system when listing interface requirements. This will provide more guidance for developers and others.
o Identify parameters like cost and scheduling.
o Insert visuals into the requirement documents if helpful.
o Categorize and organize the requirements. Find a way to neatly fit each of these categories of requirements into a single document.
o On-going testing of application.
o Training staff on T/the new application.

2. Work on other projects assigned by the Executive Director. Minimum Educational Requirements:
o Bachelor's degree. Computer, information science or business management is preferred but not required.
Or
o Associate's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.
