Essential Responsibilities: As a Lead Engineer - Real Time Embedded Electronics Controls & Power Controls, you will be responsible for leading the architecting, development, and execution of Real Time systems for Aerospace, Oil & Gas, and Energy control system applications. You will work with GE business units to define Real Time systems and hardware architectures, model Real Time systems, develop microelectronic systems, and execute research programs.



Define, model, simulate, design, implement, analyze, and realize Real Time critical electronics systems. Systems include electric power generation, critical controls for oil & gas, distribution and management, avionics, turbine controls and communication hardware. Focus on analog and digital design, Embedded C++, Embedded system microcontrollers, as well as FPGA programming and test.



As a Lead Engineer - Real Time Embedded Electronics Controls & Power Controls, you will:


  • Work with our teams in Healthcare, Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas, and others to create leading Embedded electronics solutions.
  • Advance Embedded electronics technologies through collaboration with universities, customers, and other GE teams.
  • Take task ownership with projects
  • Interpret larger system requirements and flow down needs as it relates to embedded, microelectronic designs
  • Independently identify and innovate new concepts in order to realize and demonstrate cutting edge performance and functionality on Real Time systems
  • Generate intellectual property in the field of Real Time microelectronics and Embedded systems
  • Shares technical knowledge with others in the group, team and across the organization; Interact and collaborate with technical colleagues and cross-organizational groups
  • Develop simulation acceleration methods in hardware, software and firmware Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with at least 3 years of related experience (OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with at least 7 years of related work experience)
    • Demonstrated core expertise in Real Time Embedded systems & microcontrollers.
    • Demonstrated expertise in the field of 3 phase, high speed motor/generator controls electronics and applications, with a focus on avionics or oil & gas applications.
    • In depth experience with analog & digital design, including microcontrollers and FPGA based microcontrollers
    • Experience with Real Time control/data systems
    • Proficient with acceleration technologies including FPGA's and scaling to multicore processors. (Xilinx & Altera)
    • Programming experience in MATLAB, VHDL, Verilog, and C/C++
    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Masters level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
    • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
