The Enterprise Infrastructure Architect is responsible for coordinating the design of the Technology Domain of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) aligned to the GE Research strategy, evangelizing the EA processes and outcomes, and providing solution architecture consulting to select projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible analyzing the Global Research business context to derive technical architecture, and then coordinating the evolution of reference architectures across technical domains.
- Analyzes technology industry and market trends to determine their impact to GE Global Research.
- Works with GE Global Research IT Solution Architects, Service Owners, and Principal Technologists to ensure consistent architecture plans across infrastructure domains.
- Provides solution architecture expertise to projects with significant impact to the GE Global Research Enterprise Architecture.
The Enterprise Infrastructure Architect will:
- Analyze the Global Research business context (trends and business strategy) to ensure the synchronicity of the technology vision and business strategy.
- Provide current state, future state and gap analysis for the GE Global Research Infrastructure Architecture.
- Partner with project teams to ensure that all solutions are EA compliant or result in modifications to the GE Global Research EA plan.
- Participate in projects with complimentary requirements and designs in order to ensure that the solutions align with each other and the GE Global Research EA plan.
- Align GE Global Research Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture plans with those of the other GE Businesses.
- Evaluate emerging trends for potential integration into the Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture; partner with research teams to explore the potential applications for these emerging technologies.
- Consult on application or infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to the technical architecture.
- Provide guidance and ensure architectural continuity across one or more of the GR IT strategic program portfolios.
- Provide Solution Architecture expertise to select projects.
Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field of study with at least 7 years of experience as a data analyst or equivalent information technology professional.
- Proven experience aligning information technology services to business goals; setting and exceeding goals and objectives and operational targets.
- Experience building and maintaining services in one or more of the following infrastructure areas: networking, storage and/or virtualized server environments.
- Demonstrated analytical, systems design/integration and problem solving skills
- Business domain, data/content and process understanding

- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

Desired Characteristics: - MBA or Master's Degree in an information management related field.
- Seven to Ten years of experience in at least two technical IT disciplines (such as client/server, service-oriented architecture (SOA), technical architecture, cloud, network design, middleware, Servers and storage, or IT operations).
- Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.
- Proven experience integrating application, information and technical domain architectures.
- Ability to rapidly evaluate changing technologies and apply them to the business environment.
- Six Sigma Blackbelt certification
- TOGAF, Zachman or similar Enterprise Architecture Methodology experience/certification.
- Ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of IT professionals located in multiple sites, including proven effectiveness working with global teams.
- Understanding of SOA and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design.
