Our client is a hugely popular, Fortune 500 company seeking a capable Data Analyst/Data Modeler for an excellent Contract to Hire opportunity.
The Data Analyst will be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, transforming, and modelling data with the goal of discovering useful information, suggesting conclusions, and support decision making. This candidate will be working with user groups to define system and reporting requirements, communicate requirements to IT, analyze source system data, and validate system outputs, processes and reporting data.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinates existing data and analysis from multiple sources into a single document suitable for presentation to outside bodies
- Includes data and technology management (data acquisition, mining, analysis, data integrity management, metrics management and reporting)
- Applies knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and non-standard situations
- Works independently with minimal guidance
- Develops and delivers long-term goals for data modelling and standards in conjunction with data users, department managers, clients, and other stakeholders
- Identifies problematic areas and conduct research to determine the best course of action to correct the data
- Analyzes and recommends solutions for issues with current and planned systems as they relate to the integration and management of the data domain
- Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Develops queries against various data sources to analyze and report data
- In collaboration with others, develops and maintains databases and data systems necessary for projects and department functions
- Acquires and abstracts primary or secondary data from existing internal and external data sources
- In collaboration with others, develops and implements data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
- Identifies data trends and data abnormalities
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or relevant discipline preferred
- 5+ years' work experience as a data molder or data architect
- 4+ years' work experience as data modeler using ERWIN
- Hands-on experience with large-scale data modelling, data mining and business requirements gathering/analysis
- Experience in data warehousing data population techniques
- Direct experience in implementing enterprise data management processes, procedures, and decision support
- Strong understanding of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices
- Data acquisition, mining, analysis, data integrity management, metrics management and reporting experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Technical expertise regarding conceptual, logical, and physical data models and databases design development
- Understanding of SQL, XML, and XSD (schemas)
- Experience in building customized code in SQL, PL/SQL (or equivalent) or other Data-mining/ETL tools
- Experience in data mining techniques and procedures and knowing when their use is appropriate
- Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
- Experience with SAS and BI tools like Business Objects preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills a MUST
