Responsibilities
The Database Marketing Strategist serves as the company's ambassador and subject matter expert for email and database marketing strategy. Skilled at helping internal clients reach fertile lead segments with the right media and message, the Database Marketing Strategist consults with Marketing Managers and other internal partners to maximize the effectiveness of cultivation initiatives. S/he is responsible for maintaining and growing the company's email marketing expertise, while ensuring the implementation of email marketing best practices and standards, including CAN-SPAM and CASL compliance, client campaign optimization and tactics for success.
The Database Marketing Strategist works with the Marketing, Program Strategy and Creative teams to provide strategic guidance, implementation, campaign management, and reporting on external email and internal cultivation activities (deliverability metrics, open/click-through/conversion rates, list quality and ROI). The Database Marketing Strategist is experienced with interactive marketing strategy and email marketing concepts, analytics, extremely detail oriented, and skilled at project management. He or she also handles the account management of automated email marketing campaigns as well as providing sales support.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of e-marketing processes and significant experience in developing email campaigns and database cultivation activities. S/he manages email segmentation, technology implementations, email deliverability, reporting dashboards, and analysis. Understanding of CAN-SPAM/CASL compliance and permission-based marketing strategy is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Manager of email service provider (ESP) application
- Craft and maintain best practices guide for email
- Craft and maintain best practices guide for webinars
- Analyze and identify fertile database segments
- Manage data hygiene through opt-in campaigns
- Craft and maintain best practices guide for communication with duplicate leads
- Monitor performance and serve Marketing Managers with recommendations based on metrics
- Cultivate intimate relationships with major ISP's to ensure we are never black- or gray-listed
- Form a partnership with commercial certification and reputation enhancement companies such as Goodmail, ReturnPath, or Habeas
- Monitor and analyze benchmark metrics across programs and even by industry
- Assist Marketing Managers in A/B testing messaging and design
- Provide and maintain email test accounts to ensure that our message is received and rendered as intended.
- Provide Marketing Managers with guidelines for dealing with outside email list vendors
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Marketing or equivalent discipline
- Minimum 2-5 years experience in direct response marketing, product management and/or ad agency work experience
- Experience with enterprise email systems, Exact Target Email Client is strongly desired
- Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills
- Strong communication skills and customer facing experience
- Exceptional project management skills
- Demonstrated capacity for developing and understanding strategy
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
