Position Title Network Planner IV
Position Summary
Designs, analyzes, plans and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementation activities. Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods. Prepares the analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signalling. Conducts network architecture design and feasibility and cost studies. Develops alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities. Conducts studies to determine impacts on network capacity and development plan projections. Uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
As the lead Technical Architect/Consultant on the 4G core team, you will be expected to do what it takes to plan, deploy, operate and maintain the Evolved Packet Core (ePC) network in a highly scalable manner.
Expectations include:
- Contributing heavily to business plans and operational plans for the ePC to include performance, capacity, design, and performance standards.
- Provide leadership with humility and reflective of the Sprint imperatives to foster consensus minded, fact-based, detailed plans within a dynamic technological environment; the success of this role will depend heavily on the ability to work cross functionally to build business cases and analyses depending on inputs from Engineering, Development, Operations, and vendor resources.
- Develop the Plan of Record (PoR) for all EPC technologies to include business justification and design, testing, implementation, and service requirements.
Ideal candidate will have both a broad, diverse background across wireless voice and data technologies as well as depth in key categories including:
- In-depth knowledge of ePC technologies to include SGW, PGW, MME, etc.
- Understanding of ePC performance targets and standards
- Ability to develop long-term ePC element plans to meet demand.
- Demonstrated experience as subject matter expert with at least 2 of the Network Vision vendors ePC platforms (ALU, Samsung, and Ericsson).
- Proven history of leading others and contributing to cross-functional teams in a leadership capacity.
- Experience with Sprint budgetary processes and a good overall understanding of financial acumen including development of call models including unit costs, business cases, and a well versed understanding of good program/project management skills.
- Ability to think big picture and contribute to strategic decisions; this position will have high visibility and as the lead architect on the team you will be expected to communicate effectively up & down the management chain, develop and deliver executive level decks/reports, and be articulate in providing and evaluating detailed reports.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and eight years related work experience or twelve years related work experience post high school
- Five years network planning work experience
- Five years experience with project management and project implementation
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years experience with network performance criteria and measurement methods
- Active role in existing Network Vision planning, engineering or development. "> ">
