QA Analyst-131102
Description
The QA Analyst is responsible for performing quality assurance duties throughout the project lifecycle. To be successful in this role, one must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role requires good communication skills, both with team members and business contacts. In addition, the successful QA Analyst must be able to work with minimal supervision on small and medium sized projects.
- Review project documentation for all assigned projects to ensure that the project requirements are clearly defined
- Analyze project requirements and develop Test Plans and documented test cases that ensure that all functionality is performing as intended
- Plan and schedule all QA deliverables during project lifecycle
- Execute on test plans and strategies
- Conduct formal test case review sessions with project team and incorporate feedback
- Execute manual test cases, document actual results, and evaluate compared to expected results
- Execute automated test cases and evaluate compared to expected results
- Develop SQL queries to retrieve data for validation purposes
- Troubleshoot unintended results and error logs to investigate cause of unintended results
- Report defects and escalate issues as needed
- Regularly report overall project status, including test case execution statistics, defect status, milestone achievement, and satisfaction of quality metrics
- Contribute to the project success in a team environment while simultaneously completing individual tasks and goals
- Share knowledge by effectively documenting work
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s) Knowledgeable in various SDLC methodologies including waterfall, agile, and iterative approaches
- Mentor less experienced Analysts
- Play a supportive role on project teams
- Work with minimal supervision on small and medium sized projects.
- Perform early morning or late night validation when new releases are being deployed into production
Qualifications
*
3+ years QA experience focusing on software verification and Back End data validation
*
Minimum 2 years' experience testing web based applications
*
2+ years' experience developing and performing queries against a SQL database environment
*
Experience testing Business Intelligence requirements
*
Experience with a defect tracking tool such as Quality Center
*
Experience with a test case management tool such as Quality Center.
*
Experience with business support software applications such as MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Visio) required
*
Testing in a Unix environment a plus.

Bachelor's degree in computing related field or equivalent work experience
