Position Title Systems Administrator III
Position Summary
Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems. Maintains the integrity and security of Servers and systems. Serves as a front line interface to users with technical issues. Interacts with third-party technology vendors and internal database staff. Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies. May install new software, perform troubleshooting, and grant permissions to applications and training users.
Responsible for the support and maintenance of ESX (VM Ware) and other UNIX operating systems for major production and non-production environments. Provides technical assistance and guidance in the resolution of more complex system related problems and oversees the implementation and maintenance of the operating system support functions including system release upgrades, patches, fixes, migration and performance, system tuning, security, and system access. Provide System Administration support for new project build activity and or server migration activities. Responsibilities also include problem resolution for OS and hardware and in the VM Ware space, support for HP Proliant and UCS Blade server infrastructure, including responsibility for anticipating and facilitating resource additions, monitoring, performance management of the environment and the interdependencies within the ecosystem.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and four years related work experience or eight years related work experience post high school
- Three years technical assistance experience
- Three years experience installing software
- Three years system administration experience
Preferred Qualifications
1. Minimum 3 years ESX VM Ware version 4.1 (and above) experience.
2. Strong TCPIP networking fundamental skills.
3. Understanding of ESX Farm resource management and performance analysis.
4. Proven troubleshooting skills.
5. Experience with the vSphere API or PowerCLI.
6. Communicate effectively with multiple organizations and demonstrate a teamwork attitude.
7. Develop comprehensive implementation plans for support & project-based activities.
8. Work flexible hours including on-call duties to meet business needs.
9. Demonstrate superior oral and written communication skills. "> ">
