Working as part of a multi-location, multi-disciplined team, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of working as an integral part of a Level 3 technical team. This team will proactively work to ensure the integrity of VMware's internal infrastructure and will ensure that where Incidents do occur, the team will remediate the Incident utilizing strong technical skills and best practice Incident Management techniques.

Responsibilities:
-Strive to ensure the availability and performance of production application databases meet defined SLA's, through continuous monitoring, evaluation and updating of the environment as the business needs change.
-Perform Incident Management activities related to Oracle Application and Core DBA incidents within SLA's.
-Perform Problem Management activities to establish root cause of incidents, along with the permanent resolution.
-Perform Change Management to implement permanent resolutions to incidents.
-Establish routine health checks for production application databases, automating these as much as possible.
-Establish effective monitoring of production application databases, through the continuous evaluation of the environment.
-Perform Capacity Planning activities ensuring that production application databases have sufficient resources available to meet application SLA's.

Requirements:
-At least 6 years IT operations experience working as part of a technical break/fix team. Ideally 2 of those years should be in a technical SME/lead capacity.
-Experience with and a broad knowledge of virtualization, Database technologies, Middleware, Web Portals, Data Center Operations, and Application/System Monitoring.
-Candidates should have a strong knowledge in Oracle E-Business Suite 11i and R12 and Oracle RDBMS 9i, 10g, and 11g environments on a Linux Environment.
-Candidates should have a strong knowledge in Oracle RDBMS 9i, 10g, and 11g environments on a Linux Environment
-Demonstrated use of trouble ticketing systems and in depth knowledge of incident management, change management, and problem management processes skills.
-Clear understanding of the SDLC ITIL software lifecycle.
-Excellent verbal and written communications skills, works effectively with IT Developers, QA, IT management, and global IT Operations teams.
-Strong communication skills with a customer focused attitude.
-Ability to utilize technical skills in pressurized situations, ensuring that Incidents are either prevented or remediated within agreed SLAs.
-Good knowledge of monitoring systems relevant to that area of expertise.
-Strong knowledge of industry standard administration processes and controls to meet security and compliance audit requirements for SOX, PCI and ISO17001.
-Works well both independently and as part of a team; attention to detail is essential for this position.
-Shift work, including rotating weekends for some positions may be required but will not include overnight work.
