Overview: The Center Field Engineer (CFE) team is an experienced, highly motivated team of engineers focused on remote deployment and support of complex services. They are the primary technical resource on deployments requiring a strong knowledge of the implementing and configuring of Avaya Communications Manager (ACM). In addition, the CFE team is responsible for the delivery of the SPS Monitoring tools and Network assessments.
Responsibilities: - Work directly with customers to delivery, support and troubleshoot Network Performance Evaluations (NPE's)
- Review, analyze and explain NPE results with customers and associated project teams
- Support of on-boarding technologies including the delivery of SPS Monitoring solutions: Nectar, ReliaTel and ClearTrac Control.
- Delivery of CM software, firmware, updates and patches to communications products as necessary
- Provide technical leadership for project teams, field technicians and/or contractors.
- Remotely perform the planning, preparation and delivery of:
- New CM server/gateway/IP phone deployments
- CM Software upgrades
- CM Server upgrades
- Multi-site field projects
- PLDS/RFA support
- Assist in defining and creating new processes and procedures for the CFE team
- Assist with developing more efficiently and effective field processes and methods
- Work with team members and other departments to communicate new changes
- Create and maintain our existing knowledge base
- Deliver and host internal training events on best practices for tools design and implementations.
Qualifications:POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience in telecommunications. Computer and/or Network education preferred. Server engineering and maintenance skills highly desired.
Work experience: 5-6 years with working hands-on with Avaya Communication Manager and associated applications. Preferred certifications; ACSS in CM R6/IPT. 3-4 years of Networking experience preferred; CCNA, CompTIA, or equivalent. 1-3 years experience working with Monitoring and Network testing solutions.
Technical Competencies:
- Computer literacy; proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Use and/or strong familiarity with the following tools; Nectar, ReliaTel, Clear Track, NetAlly, and AppNeta.
- Good understanding of networking technologies including; TCP/IP, DHCP, TFTP, VLAN, QoS, VoIP and various WAN technologies (Frame Relay, MPLS, etc)
- Analyzes end-to-end TCP/IP protocol traces to identify network connectivity issues using diagnostic tools such as Wireshark.
- Ability to perform simple to medium complexity programming & configuration changes within ACM as required for this position.
- Good understanding of QoS implementation plans, IP Addressing schemes, and VLAN designs. Creates network topology maps utilizing MS Visio
- Configuration and support of Microsoft Servers and Linux operating systems.
