Job Description: ERP SQL Server Database Administrator

The purpose of this position is to perform and support all database activities required during the Advantage implementation project.
Project responsibilities

- Installs, creates and configures the databases as appropriate in the creation and management of Advantage and other application environments

- Performs database administration tasks in the support of the environments

- Support the project team by executing on their requests to create tables, take backups, perform restores, uploading/downloading data, and other database-related tasks

- Monitors and tunes the databases as appropriate

- Supports the project team in all testing activities especially related to performance and security/vulnerability

- Performs any required data migration and configuration management tasks

- Performs database related tasks in the support of conversions, interfaces and reports

- Assists in planning activities, such as capacity planning
Meetings

- Attend and contribute to client meetings
Deliverables Mangement

- Author and review design documents and other project deliverables

- Comply with project documentation standards
Task Management

- Understand work plan activities, and provide accurate status on work completion

- Estimate task time requirements and plan accordingly

- Understand and work within task scope

- Prioritize tasks

- Identify and communicate issues in a timely manner
Required Skills

- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in MS SQL Server Database Administration

- Experience in SQL Server installation and configuration

- Experience of managing MS SQL Server 2008 RDBMS on large systems

- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems

- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models

- Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service

Experience of Transactional SQL and stored procedures

- Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security

Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database development projects

- Ability to work independently on projects with minimal direction

- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word

- Strong interpersonal skills and effective team player

- Good verbal/written communication skills

- Strong prioritization skills with a clear ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Desirable

- Experience with CGI Advantage products and databases is a plus.

- Experience with SQL Server replication
