Description
This position is for a dynamic individual experienced in Java technologies, Agile development, SOA enablement, and driving strategic technical decisions. This position is responsible for the technical and architectural direction of a set of applications. The individual will work with the architecture experts to define and ensure that solutions support the product or capability strategic plan. By developing in-depth knowledge of multiple platform/application areas within the portfolio supported, and becoming a subject matter expert (SME) for several applications, or an integration SME for third-party software products, you will develop in-depth knowledge of a particular business capability.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Oversees the technical delivery of a set of projects and is responsible for design, build, test, and implementation, as well as ensuring adherence to technical standards
* Ensures the quality of deliverables in terms of supporting requirements analysis and the technical architecture
* Ensures quality in terms of the technical delivery and is accountable for the performance and efficiency of solutions
* Enforces utilization of enterprise-wide standards
* May be required to perform evaluation of third-party software products as it relates to integrating with American Express (AXP) applications
* Provides hands-on technical expertise/governance on all aspects of implementation or third-party software integration
* Ensures that the engineered environment meets the specification in terms of business requirements, application design, and infrastructure requirements (ie, accountable for the performance and efficiency of applications)
Qualifications
* Proven Java, Java EE development experience
* Demonstrated proficiency in the mechanics of service-oriented computing through the mastery of patterns, principles, practices, and industry-standard technologies
* Agile experience is a plus (SCRUM preferred)
* Experience with Rich User Interface, Responsive Web Design, Mobile Browser development, AJAX is a plus
* Design pattern family proficiency
* Demonstrated achievement, strategic thinking, curiosity to learn and grow, and customer focused mindset
* Hands-on knowledge and understanding of architecture, requirements analysis, applications systems design, and integration, with a detailed understanding of applicable programming methodologies
* Experience with application design, configuration, and integration of third-party software products
* Ability to work with business team members and articulate technical trends/concepts and design/implementation considerations
* Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, business and/or vendor partners, and technology leaders
* Should be motivated and an innovative thinker
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or has equivalent work experience
