Description
Infrastructure Customer Engagement (ICE) delivers complete infrastructure servicing through the delivery of enhanced customer services, strategy, process improvements related to existing initiatives, and the delivery of new offerings. In this unique role, the Lead Technical Architect will be responsible for providing technical direction within midrange infrastructure across all AET portfolios. Responsibilities include delivering enterprise wide strategies, providing consulting expertise, leveraging business & technical knowledge to support infrastructure needs, and delivering business value.
Plays an integral part in building and enhancing the infrastructure required to support the platform(s), or set of applications, in terms of robustness, scalability, availability, and efficiency.
Works across all organizations with Senior Leaders, Technical/Business Architects, RA Teams, and Operations Groups to provide recommendations on midrange infrastructure for efficient time to market delivery, and/or strategic process improvements.
Provides solutions to reduce Technology Consumption Management, improve Total Cost of Ownership, identify re-engineering opportunities, and improvements to availability.

Responsibilities:
- Thorough understanding of AXP midrange Infrastructure environment, current offerings, and RA standards
- Strong knowledge of the performance characteristics of multiple hardware architecture types to be able to evaluate and compare performance.
- Partners with Technology Teams for standards input and implementations across AET.
- Delivers technical strategies to AET Leaders & Architects.
- Provides consultancy & guidance to technical teams at the appropriate technical level.
- Works with Technology partners & vendors to drive value for American Express - drive down cost, increase efficiency, and improve time to market.
- Assigns development resources and monitor performance across resource channels.
- Models various strategies working in conjunction with Business and Technical Architects to socialize optimization opportunities, and process improvements, that support the business and IT strategic direction.
- Drives higher availability by leading key analytics to identify opportunities within various AET portfolios/applications.
- Interacts with customers to share and direct architecture practices that may affect business solution delivery.
- Ensures that platform(s) supported meets the business, technical and infrastructure needs by over-seeing the health and well-being of the technical infrastructure.

Qualifications
- 10+ years experience in distributed environment with Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field (or has equivalent work experience).
- Experience in multiple IT disciplines and with a proven understanding of architectural concepts (data, technical and solution), issues and trends.
- Requires knowledge and understanding of business architecture, applications systems design and integration with a detailed understanding of applicable programming methodologies.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to make technical presentations to leadership, present multiple options and influence the decision making process.
- The ability to craft presentations to the appropriate level for the intended audiences using either technical or business emphasis is desired.
- Effective consultative skills across a multi-functional environment
- Ability to deliver business value using creative and effective approaches
- ITIL knowledge - desirable
